Personally, weekly racing is usually better as a whole than a time trial format event. Time trials wont keep me away but i also know what to expect from each show. Honestly how can anyone say that a show with the fast cars starting up front is better than a show with the fast cars handicapped into the top 15, moving to the front?

They should run nothing but the modified class. Dump all the support classes just run 1 class. Skip hot laps and heat races. Line the cars up in the order they show up at the pit gate. Don't worry about a winners interview. Hand them their trophy while they are driving out the pit gate. Some fans don't have time for all the extra crap.

Macho, i didn’t say anyone owed Don anything. All I was stating was if in life we see someone struggling is it the right thing to do to make fun of and not offer any help? As a society we do a crappy job looking out for others in my opinion. Think about this when you do something nice for someone doesn’t it make you feel better? Trust me we all struggle with something we could use help with but many times we are too afraid to ask or seek help feeling it makes us sound weak or stupid. I wish I knew more about doing a website and all Microsoft office programs!:))

They also could've cancelled at 2:00 pm and saved you the headache. Be thankful you got to go at all

Like I said in the original post, the only thing I'm confirming guys for is Saturday. Guys will get locked in on Thursday and Friday, but Saturday will be a complete show, so you don't have to be there the first 2 nights to qualify for the $100,000 to win show. It was announced at the start of the year Larry wasn't going to be at Fulton weekly. I understand what you're saying, but when would you suggest they run this show? There aren't any openings late in the year, and they already have their traditional ESW. If they run too late in the year they dilute that event. If they run the run the big race on a weekend you lose cars and fans that have to use vacation days. If you run on a weekend at the start of the year you risk cold weather and lose out on fans. This race was announced before quite a few tracks schedules were released. A lot of tracks are off that weekend or are running non-points. The biggest point funds I can think of pay $10,000 to win the title, this race pays 10 times that to win on this one night. I don't see anyone can even remotely argue having a $100,000 to win a race at ANY point in the season is "really awful".

I guess it really just comes down to what you consider exciting. I will give it to u the first mod feature was pretty good. The 2nd idk. When the leader follows a slower car for the last 7-9 laps because he knew if he tryed to go around him he was done that’s not that great to me. Rocky was on varins bumper going into turn 3 on the last lap with varin following a slow car and rocky just followed him to the finish. He knew he had no shot of passing him for the win so just settled for 2nd. But like I said what’s exciting to some isn’t for others. Us older guys just miss the 80’s-90’s racing. That’s all.

It sure was lol...From 21st to 1st, Matt Williamson from 25th to 3rd...The 50 lap feature was super entertaining, with Godown on the bottom, Grosso pounding the top lap after lap getting aside n catching Godown but just couldn’t tug the lead away...Pauch Jr was putting on a show also running the top groove...And it was just methodical watching Super Matt do what he does so well...Just a really great night at BDS last night, mods were over by 10pm, like lil to no dust in the 50 lap feature on a sunny n breezy day, Crate Sportsman then run their feature off non stop with a first time winner Nate Brinker taking the win...First time ever this race was run under sunny skies and no chance of rain and a BIG crowd came out to witness it.

Hell froze over because Don Slover won a feature or because nobody complained about 3 different street stock classes where the cars all looked the same?

By paying admission, they are paying the bills....

Yes I did. Not everything in racing is dreadful, but you would never know that by some of the threads here. Too much of the content on this forum makes me wonder why I even bother coming here sometimes. I am going to start a thread like this every week in hopes of generating talk about the GOOD things racing has to offer. Your reply about the slicks on a wet track will make me look for video so I can see it too. That's exactly the idea behind this.

I def like the STSS format better. I find it more entertaining. The whole evening is entertaining. With the SDS, there is no sense showing up til the feature if your looking for action/passing. Yawn. I also get to watch a group of drivers that I don't normally get to see. More entertainment value & cheaper overall too.

Oh no, is this the end of a Matt Sheppard thread. How will we go on without constant news, opinions, and in depth discussion on the greatest man to ever live. O, yeah. Someone can start a couple more threads. 😉

I would be more than happy to send you the copies of the receipts for our parts list from Sat., you are welcome to pay all or a portion of them, just slightly over $1200, will that be cash, check or credit card?

I said it in the other thread, but for a one time only, never going to happen again, single biggest payday in dirt mod history you'd be crazy NOT to run this on a weekend. From a track perspective, running Saturday provides the greatest opportunity for fans to come watch and it gives you the option of a Sunday rain date. Running the 160 during the week gives you none of that. With many tracks playing ball with OCFS for this event, the opportunity for a huge field is there. As s fan, I am very grateful they're running on a Saturday. Saves a vacation day and means guys can tow in who may not have if it was run on a Thurs night.

Not a bad seat in the house. It is not as big as Fulton, but the seating is similar in that everything is down below you in a bowl. Do not let John Williams comments discourage you. It is a 3 and half hour ride for me and no roads are easy to get there. However, I still go to the place two or three times a year. Must be I pick all the good weeks because I have enjoyed the racing there and have had fun each time.

Racing is a form of entertainment, racers tend to forget that. When people stop going to be entertained, there will not be races period. Drivers will show up and race no matter what....shit purse, great purse, bad tracks, good tracks, time trials, draw.....it doesn’t matter, it’s an addiction that they will not stop feeding just because they don’t like luck playing a part in it. The only real group of drivers that will throw a fit about doing away with time trials, are the guys that always time trial up front and don’t have to sweat for much of the night. That’s why these guys are not so invisible at a deyo show. The fact that the stss format opens up the possible winners list to 10-20 guys sometimes, makes that series a more exciting show. If deyo got his foot in the door at a bunch more of the “nicer” facilities, this would never even be a question. Draw for heats puts on a better more exciting show. The fans prefer it, a lot of the smaller teams prefer it. The big events should be that format.
