  1. One race in and bitching about the facility already matters more than the racing...

  2. I will say, like a few people on here you worry way to much about a track you don't attend. If you can't see past what Grandview is and will be until they close the doors I really feel sorry for you. The place holds a lot of great memories for me, hell I met my wife there in 84 so yeah I'll defend the place to the end. Not many race tracks around that are run for close to 60 years by the same family that built the place. Can't say what the official crowd numbers were but I will say I got there before 5 o clock and had to search for a parking place. It was a great night!

  3. It was our first time down there. The track is awesome. It isnt flashy but I think I would rather watch racing there than many of the other tracks we've been to. Nothing is more fun than watching a high banked small track

  4. Wait, has Grandview not put any money into the grandstand side of the facility in recent memory? I wasn't sure, I think I need you to repeat yourself at least 2 more times in this thread. No one is arguing about the condition of the "amenities" at Grandview, it's definitely rough around the edges. And yet, even though I've grown up and went to my first race at Bridgeport and live within 20 miles of New Egypt (both much nicer facilities). And although I agree that OC is making tremendous improvements. If all four of those tracks were equidistant from me and running the exact same show, I w

  5. So your telling me tracks pick the sds dates not dirt? So weedsport is the one that picked to race against the ocfs 200 a few years ago? That’s hard to believe but if u guys say so then it must be true. Also hard to believe 2 tracks wanted to run against Fonda’s 53k to win race. If that is all true then there is some really dumb promoters out there

  7. Nascar butchered this sport. They had a golden goose and someone managed to screw it up. I haven’t watched a complete race in years. It’s litterally the most boring, uninteresting racing around. The points make zero sense. The format is a joke. I went from being a diehard to couldn’t care less in 15 years. That’s not easy to do

  8. yeah...… cause price gouging on nascar weekends is a new thing😆 The bottom line..... There was absolutely NO NEED to fix what was not broke playoffs, stages. new rule changes for the cars, the drivers ,the pit crews, every other week...…...yada yada🙄 oh well Dirt season is here! 👍

  9. For what it's worth, don't forget that when the Super DIRT Series schedule came out and tracks scheduled these races, the Fonda 200 was paying less than half of that $53,000 to win. It was always going to be a big race, I get that, but $53,000 is a whole different ballgame than $20,000. Hell, I'm a perfect example of that. When it was first announced I was thinking about probably going, when it changed to $53,000 to win I booked a hotel the next day. But, yes, that's what we're telling you. I'm not one to post hearsay or rumors. Bob Miller and Martin Belanger are pretty credible sources,

  10. The problem is, there is not much point in watching or attending the majority of the races because the points format ensures that much of the season is meaningless.

  11. I can remember a bunch of years the championship came down to the last week or the last few weeks. Look at last season harvick Kyle and truex dominated all season yet Joey is the champ. Come on. It’s a joke and gimmick. U could win the first 9 races in the final 10 races and not win a title. And stage racing another gimmick. Here throw a yellow so we can let them catch up because your to fast for them.

  12. There was "never" a reason to watch in the fall? Get out of here with made up claims that are obviously not true. Show us the year when a guy sat out 30 percent of the season and was crowned champion. The system now is a contrived, fake, phony sham that often effs the guy who had the best season.

  13. You talk like if Fonda is racing that should be the only option available. Did it ever dawn on you that there are drivers and fans that just straight up don’t like Fonda? I know it’s hard for you to swallow but it’s true. Now come on, bring the usual BS answer that has nothing to do with the topic.

  14. I’d say the opposite about the points. There was never a reason to watch in the fall

  15. NASCAR also suffers from serious overexposure. There’s way, way too much NASCAR programming on in a week during the season.

  21. Port Royal is one of the best dirt tracks I've ever been to, period. Their lighting is the best I've ever seen at a dirt track. Actually, it might be the best I've ever seen at a race track in general. If I wasn't 5.5 hours away that would be my Saturday night home without a doubt.

  22. This past Saturday,I went to Port Royal.Mind you the place was not packed but they had good crowd.P/R along with other tracks in PA. give the fans what they want to see ''RACING''!!! The car count for P/R was 30 410 sprint cars,24 super late models and 43, count them,43 305 sprint cars. The price tag for all this was $15.00.Since last year when I was there, there is a new office where the ticket booth is,they tore down the old concession stand and put in a covered patio with piknic tables.New improvements every year going on there to make it more fan friendly.

  24. This is 100% fact and I'll prove it like this... While in Daytona about 10 years ago, I ran up and down A1A for nearly 2 solid weeks. NOBODY was scalping tickets. The night life on the strip was dead. Just about every hotel along the beach had vacancy signs. I also noticed that for the last 5 or 6 years, it was getting worse and worse. I always said I would never go to the Daytona 500 because I don't do well in crowds. I am a medium level claustrophobic... 200,000 people was too many. But I decided to give it a shot when I saw no street corner scalpers. I stopped at the track on Wedn

  26. It’s a star driven sport and they haven’t replaced Earnhardt Jr, Gordon, Stewart and that’s just recently. Over time they’ve lost Mark Martin, Rusty Wallace, Dale Jarrett and those that have replaced them as top runners are wimpy spoiled rich kids who have no following. Kyle Busch is a great villain but if there’s no hero, you’re going to have empty seats.

  27. Without question. NASCAR as a whole is a shit product. All about sponsorship dollars and manufactured excitement. Young drivers who are marketable and/or bring their own money. I haven’t been fully into it since 2001, although I always watched until a few years ago. Now it’s just here and there. I will say though that as far as Bristol itself goes, I stand by what I say. I’ve been to Bristol several times and my parents used to go yearly. They, along with others that we know, gave up those tickets because 1)The racing sucks now and 2) They didn’t have a driver that they were truly passionate a

  30. Grandview has always run big heats. Back in the days of 9:1 Pennsylvania Tri-Track, the cutoff was 50 cars for four heats or five. As far as no improvements being made, most rational people realize the pace is not going to be around forever -- especially now that Bruce Rogers is dead.

  31. Well Tom, I went to my first race at Grandview in 1974 to watch my Uncle, Spent most of the 80's and 90's crewing on different modified teams and was lucky enough to be on feature winning teams and was even lucky enough to be on a championship team one year. I too have spent a lot of years there and know exactly what I was going down to every Saturday night. I had a great time every week no matter what the outcome was, win, lose dnq it didn't matter. Last night I went for the first time in probably 5 years because I wanted to be a part of the night honoring a gentleman that we drank more than

  32. The Northeast Dirt Modified Hall of Fame expresses condolences to the family and friends of William C. “Wee Willie” Allan, a standout Central New York racer in the 1950s and ’60s, who passed away on April 1. He was 89. Allan, from Skaneateles, NY, was inducted into the Northeast Dirt Modified Hall of Fame in 1993. A truck driver by trade, Allan began racing at the old Hemlock Speedway in 1953. He went on to make his mark at Maple Grove Speedway, in Waterloo, and Weedsport Speedway, driving for Dominic Tantalo, Otis Dunham and others. Because of his diminutive size and h

  33. Not to be redundant, but you ARE saying that management has put zero $ into the fans creature comforts once they walk through the gate ? I too have many great memories of Grandview ! I would love to return to Grandview ! I made a promise to myself years ago. I will not put any $ into the pockets of ownership until they put $ back into the speedway to improve my experience at the track. When you see tracks like Bridgeport or Orange County Fair Speedway CONSTANTLY trying to improve the “fan experience”, it’s tough to not give them my entertainment dollars.
