Man, that is amazing. Going back to Pastor Wells, I am not overly vocal about my religious feelings, but I've have always liked it when the pastors and ministers asking for the drivers and crew to be surrounded by guardian angels, but that he is walking around and released is a both a miracle and an incredible testament to the efforts of NASCAR to improve the safety of those cars. That crash was about as bad as it could get ... and he's with his daughters, which is what matters most. Thank you God for a lot of answered prayers.

There's a first time for everything, and that doesn't make it less stupid that it happened. But I have real doubts it's never happened.

I would have considered him fortunate to look that well in a month. For it to be only two days is shocking.

Theres a little blame for everyone here but it comes down to the drivers and Nascar. They went around nearly 200 laps yesterday with almost no issues......until a few laps to go, like every restrictor plate race. Nascar likes and allows anything to go on the last lap and the drivers just follow suit. If Nascar would penalize for spinning or driving thru someone you wouldn't have every finish end with 15 cars spinning and wrecking......but imagine how boring it would be to watch the whole field finish just like the first 199 laps with no wrecking? I'm not for wrecks but it's terrible 'racing' s

They noticed the crash what they didn't notice was that Ryan newman was stll in the car and how bad the accident was. Joe Gibbs is a Highly Class Act, one of the BEST people I know with as much fame as he has he has stayed humble and kind throughout his life. I'm not the first to say this.....they just need to bulldoze Daytona and Talladega. Not only are they dangerous, but the racing is horrible. The huge wrecks are ridiculous.

The issue of what to do with lapped cars on restarts is a problem, or at least a question, in almost all types of racing. I actually think the lucky dog thing almost might be the best way to deal with it. Always putting all lapped cars behind lead lap cars pretty much ensures you'll never get that lap back and your day might be over on lap 2. The old way of lead lap in one row and lap down in another row was just silly. Or having cars stay out and join the "tail end" where the leader might be the tenth car in line. Nobody asked but what would I change?..... 1. Get rid of Stage racing. Have 1 Stage - the green flag to the checkered. 2. Get rid of the Chase. Most asinine idea ever. Kevin Harvick could mail it in every week from now until mid September if he wanted to. 3. Get rid of the Lucky Dog. No wave arounds. Charity. Welfare. Artificial lead lap cars every time the yellow flies. Want your lap back? Pass the leader under green and earn it. 4. Get rid of knockout qualifying. Want to make it more exciting? Run time trials but count 2 or 4 consecutive laps (like Indy 500).

Exactly. The more aero dependent the cars become, the worse the racing gets - in any series. People raved about the wingless Sprint show last month at Weedsport...coincidence? I've always said that the most entertaining races to watch are the ones where the cars handle like crap and the drivers need to manhandle them around the track. Go back and watch the very first Brickyard 400 with Jeff Gordon and Ernie Irvan. That was one of the best Cup races I've ever watched. Want to fix NASCAR?
