  6. The best in weekly racing action is combined with two premier touring divisions on a special edition of Speedway Showcase from the Genesee Speedway. The event from Genesee will be the final of five episodes of Speedway Showcase for 2018 on Saturday, August 11 and Sunday August 12 in Upstate New York. The Weedsport event will begin airing in the Buffalo market on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. on CW 23 (WNLO). The Syracuse market will be able to see Speedway Showcase on Sunday Morning at 7:30 a.m. on CBS 5 (WTVH), while the Rochester market airing will be at 10:30 a.m. on CW 16 (WHAM-2). Most editions of Speedway Showcase focus on just one division, but on this final episode five divisions are covered. On a special Thursday Night race program, the RUSH Dirt Late Model Series and the GRIT Racing Series Sportsman Tour invaded the 1/3-mile oval for the Genesee County Fair. With carnival rides in the background and the smell of fried dough in the air, the locals looked to fend off the invaders to the best of their ability. In addition to the two tour series, the 360 Late Models, Street Stocks and Mini Stocks have their features highlighted in the 60-minute program. Many of the great elements of Speedway Showcase. Genesee Speedway Announcer Rich Vleck hosts the episode, along with Doug Elkins to call the race action while Paul Szmal provides experiences insight from trackside. In addition to all of the racing action, there are some driver insights on the Genesee Speedway along with some reflection on the trickiness of tour races. A week following the broadcasts, the Genesee event will be available on-demand at www.SpeedwayShowcase.com. All prior episodes of Speedway Showcase, along with more contact is found on the website in the all-new A-Verdi Video Container and on the Speedway Showcase YouTube Channel, presented by A-Verdi. Speedway Showcase is produced by Weedsport Productions and edited by Hot Wings Media, which has broadcasted more than 50 race nights over the last 10 years. For more information, visit www.SpeedwayShowcase.com. Scheduled Airtimes for Genesee’s Speedway Showcase: Please Note that in some markets the television guide may not list programming correctly Buffalo Market Saturday, August 11- 2:00 P.M. - CW 23 (WNLO) Syracuse Market Sunday, August 12- 7:30 A.M. - CBS 5 (WTVH) Rochester Market Sunday, August 12- 10:30 A.M.-CW 16 (WHAM2)
  7. Chub Frank, Boom Briggs, Dan Stone, Dave Hess and Max Blair among those planning on running ULMS Show this Saturday at Genesee. As for modified show, should be a pretty good turnout with nice mix of drivers from a host of tracks like Ransomville, Freedom, Woodhull, Outlaw and Land of Legends already confirmed, including a few big names
  8. We are less than two weeks away from a highly-anticipated event at Genesee Speedway "The Gladiator" is a 40-lap, $2,000-to-win Big Block/Small Block Modified event at the Genesee Speedway on Thursday, August 16th. To the best of my knowledge, this is the first time in 20 maybe 30 years that Big Blocks have run in Batavia. Woodhull Raceway rules are being followed and either Hoosier or American Racer Tires are allowed. Sportsman, Streets and 4-cylinders also running. 7:00 PM Start Time. I also wanted to throw out that this Saturday, August 11th, will be a $3,000-to-win ULMS Super Late Model Race. 6:00 PM Start time.
  9. Speedway Showcase will air its fourth of five episodes for 2018 on Saturday, July 21 and Sunday July 22 in Upstate New York. The 5th Annual Sportsman Classic featured an amazing 64 cars and with just half of the drivers making it in to the 75-lap feature, the qualifying events were intense to say the least. Recaps of many of the races, along with complete coverage of the B an A mains make this 60-minute episode must-see. Many of the great elements of Speedway Showcase. Veterans Rich Vleck and Doug Elkins have the call of the race action while Paul Szmal provides experiences insight from trackside. In addition to all of the racing action, there is another edition of the popular “Kid Question” to bring you closer to the sportsman stars while another trip to Weedsport would not be complete without another showcase of the improvements made to the facility. A week following the broadcasts, the Weedsport event will be available on-demand at www.SpeedwayShowcase.com. All prior episodes of Speedway Showcase, along with more contact is found on the website in the all-new A-Verdi Video Container and on the Speedway Showcase YouTube Channel, presented by A-Verdi. The final episode of 2018 will be the RUSH LM/ GRIT Sportsman event from Genesee Speedway in August. Speedway Showcase is produced by Weedsport Productions and edited by Hot Wings Media, which has broadcasted more than 50 race nights over the last 10 years. For more information, visit www.SpeedwayShowcase.com. 10. Speedway Showcase will air its third of five episodes for 2018 on Saturday, July 14 and Sunday June 15 in Upstate New York. The Ransomville Speedway was the setting for the Patriot Sprint Tour’s third event of 2018. Prime track conditions with a serviceable cushion kept speeds up all night, as well as the intensity. The Ransomville event will begin airing in the Buffalo market on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. on CW 23 (WNLO). The Syracuse market will be able to see Speedway Showcase on Sunday Morning at 7:30 a.m. on CBS 5 (WTVH), while the Rochester market airing will be at 10:30 a.m. on CW 16 (WHAM-2). Please be aware that your television guide may not appropriately list these airtimes, but are working to rectify this issue. Former Patriot Sprint Tour Announcer Rich Vleck and veteran analyst Doug Elkins have the call of the race action while “Cowboy” Paul Szmal provides experiences insight from trackside. In addition to all of the racing action, there is the ever-popular tech minute, the question of the hour, and a visit with Ransomville General Manger Jenn Martin about the upcoming World of Outlaws Sprint Car race at “The Big R” on Friday, July 27th. A week following the broadcasts, the Ransomville event will be available on-demand at www.SpeedwayShowcase.com. All prior episodes of Speedway Showcase,, along with more content, is found on the website in the all-new A-Verdi Video Container and on the Speedway Showcase YouTube Channel, presented by A-Verdi. 11. If the division is not capable of approrpiately lining up 4-wide then don't do it. Divisions or series that attempt it and have the back half a garbled mess just kill it for me. If it is a special race or a tour race that keeps it nice and tight I say BRING IT ON! I particularly love when the drivers clean it out and can come quickly to white- i think thats a huge rush. My major pet peave though: when a division or series brings it to 4-wide out of turn 4 only to have their "4 wide lap" be the following lap. Fans are as confused as heck. I never understand in those situations why they can't form out of turn 2 at a track without backstretch general admission grandstands.
  12. ok - my two cents I loved the track. It had a cushion and honestly there was nothing unfair about it. Unfair would be random ruts in the center of the track or black black slick where you cant pass. One thing I love about Weedsport is that the track crew works really really hard to make sure the track is proper for the night. When its not right they work even harder to fix it and I thought on Tuesday they created a cushion in Central New York! I loved seeing great professionals have to fight to have to reign in turn 1 at weedsport. Its like a member at a golf course taking joy when the pga tour comes in and struggles on a hole. I want to say this though- Robert Ballou had one of our GoPro cameras on BECAUSE he was willing to let us throw it on. I was shocked at how many guys said absolutely not (well, two of them used more authoritative vernacular). I think it was at least 6 said no. Main reason: its bad luck. Ive seen some guys in the past joke around about not wanting the hex on them, but never seen a rash of drivers decline with in-car cameras. So even though we know what Ballou had to say the second he flipped, he allowed us that intimate view while most of the top guys (who i have to say were terrific to work with on everything other than the cameras) would not. Also shout out goes to Dave Darland and Chad Boespflug who were happy to do anything our production team needed to have GoPro cameras.
