scottnorwood 530
Con7 mentioned in a different thread about a Mt. Rushmore of Dirt Modified racing. I thought that would be interesting to see what drivers people thought deserved to be in the sculpture. I would say my top 4 would be: 1. Bob McCreadie 2. Will Cagle 3. Brett Hearn 4. Brett Hearn's Hair
FightForTheRail 2,633
This is going to break down along geographical boundaries. The answers on this board will be substantially different than a board like SJDR: 1. Billy Pauch 2. Kenny Brightbill 3. Brett Hearn 4. Danny Johnson

WheelsUpHammerDown10 1,672
Brett Hearn Jack Johnson Billy Pauch Danny Johnson Man that's really tough...Could probably name about five more that could/should be on there. Mount Rushmore is going to need additions in 15-20 years with Stewart Friesen and Matt Sheppard most likely.

I tried to put one down from different regions, despite favorites. if you consider the numbers ? Major events especially. Those leaving out Alan in favor of Danny? kinda baffles me. But everyone has a favorite 👍

The majority actually have Danny listed over Alan. You really can't go wrong with either, though. Here are some stats from crown jewels and tracks/series titles for comparison... Danny Johnson *8 time Ransomville Speedway champion *5 time Rolling Wheels Raceway champion *5 time DIRTcar 358 Series champion *4 time Super DIRTcar Series champion *4 time Super DIRTcar Series champion *4 time Land of Legends Raceway champion *4 time DIRTcar Nationals champion *2 time Weedsport Speedway champion *2 time Orange County Fair Speedway 358 champion *RoC Dirt Tour championship *6 time Eastern States 200 (Orange County) winner *5 time Eastern States 100 (Orange County) winner *3 time Outlaw 200 (Fulton) winner *3 time Lebanon Valley 200 winner *2 time Salute to the Troops 150 (Syracuse) winner *2 time Super DIRT Week 200 (Syracuse) winner *2 time Susquehanna 200 winner *Mr DIRT Track USA (Lebanon Valley) winner *Mid Atlantic 200 (Bridgeport) winner *World Series 200 (Rolling Wheels) winner *Granby 200 winner *RoC Dirt Tour career wins leader Alan Johnson *9 time Weedsport Speedway champion *8 time Rolling Wheels Raceway champion *6 time Land of Legends Raceway champion *5 time Super DIRTcar Series champion *5 time Ransomville Speedway champion *4 time Brewerton Speedway champion *4 time DIRTcar 358 Series champion *3 time Fulton Speedway champion *2 time DIRTcar Nationals champion *Merrittville Speedway championship *Outlaw Speedway championship *RoC Dirt Tour championship *4 time Outlaw 200 (Fulton) winner *3 time Super DIRT Week 200 (Syracuse) winner *2 time Granby 200 winner *World Series 200 (Rolling Wheels) winner *Eastern States 100 (Orange County) winner *Eastern States 200 (Orange County) winner *Canandaigua 200 winner *Lebanon Valley 200 winner *Land of Legends Raceway career wins leader
con7 840
I think Alan had more down years than Danny. But in the years Alan was well-funded he usually dominated. I'd go with Hearn, Danny, Barefoot Bob and Pauch

chas71 985
Brightbill, Pauch, Hearn, Schneider. Really had to debate McCreadie and Schneider, other 3, no debate.

racer80 1,592
My picks would be: Jack Johnson...Lou Lazzaro...Kenny Brightbill....Danny Johnson.......these guys are the best in my opinion because they won many times in inferior equipment as well as good equipment......
premiumdiesel 307
I also thought about adding this to the list - Mallett, Bob Miller, Tom Ames and Chris Pappa. Without these men there is no DTD and without Ames you got a good nights rest.

mickey55 28
To me there is no right answer. The neat part of this whole debate is the sheer numbers of statistics accumulated by all the players involved. This is a lot like the "Hot Stove" league winter Baseball talks. Having been around for 10,000 or so races in my lifetime and most likely 2/3 of them being dirt if I had to absolutely pick a Mt. Rushmore of Dirt Modified racing I would go with Frankie Schneider. Will Cagle, Brett Hearn and Billy Pauch. Believe me when I say that list I mentioned is taking nothing away from another great group drivers others have mentioned. More on the other side of the coin and a lot less likely for as many members to debate on would the same honors for the paved track genre. My choice or that would be Richie Evans, Ray Hendrick, Dutch Hoag and probably Maynard Troyer. Debates like this could go on all winter and that sure beats talking about the Corona Virus or the snow that is piling up on my roof as we speak. To whomever started this, thank you! rpm72x 2,464
1: Hearn 2: B. McCreadie 3: D. Johnson 4: Matt Sheppard To me Alan and Danny are a coin flip, but there is room for only 1. Matt’s stats will be the only one that probably stacks up to Hearns when he is all done. There are guys that are certainly deserving that I didn’t mention but level of competition does matter to me, Bob,Alan and Danny did it both weekly and touring against the best drivers modifieds ever had to offer. JohnyC 804
Almost need to look at this through a regional lens. Up our way my mind goes to Marcel Lafrance, Pat O’Brien & Danny O’Brien and Ovid Dorion. So many deserving greats overall. I couldn’t imagine getting it down to just four. And as others have said, when it’s all said and done serious consideration will need to be lent to Friesen and Sheppard

jrkenn 6
Everyone's list all depends on what time period you saw racing. We all have our favorites and it's tough taking into all of the drivers from the early days who were so good and won tons of races without top equipment and won with talent alone. Plus in the early days everyone raced on both surfaces ( Dutch Hoag ) and how do you factor that in? My Mount Rushmore of Drivers are; Frankie Schneider, Will Cagle, Buzzie Reutimann, and Brett Hearn. Over 3,000 feature wins in my group.
