RANSOMVILLE, NY – Tuesday, August 7 is the 34th running of the Summer Nationals featuring the Big Block Modified Super DIRTcar Series presented by Busch Beer, Stirling Lubricants, Wendt’s Propane, National Maintenance Contracting Corporation (NMCC), and Stevenson’s Hardware. Joining the mighty Modifieds will be the Investors Service Sportsman, KiPo Chevrolet Street Stocks, and Fireworks
The 2017 edition of the Summer Nationals saw “Super” Matt Sheppard win his first career Big Block race at Ransomville. Past race winner Billy Decker finished in second with “Lightning” Larry Wight crossing in third. Hometown Hero Erick Rudolph finished in fourth with perennial favorite and five-time race winner Stewart Friesen completing the top five.
The top modified drivers throughout the Northeast will make the trip to Ransomville for the Summer Nationals including defending race winner and multi-time Super DIRTcar Series Champion “Super” Matt Sheppard. “Mad Max” Max McLaughlin, “The Baldwinsville Bandit” Jimmy Phelps, “Batman” Peter Britten, “The Jet” Brett Hearn, and “The Franklin Flyer” Billy Decker are all looking to score the win and the $6,000 payday. Drivers trying to defend home turf includes third-generation driver Erick Rudolph. Rudolph won the Hall of Fame 100 at Weedsport Speedway and sits second in Series points entering the week’s action at Airborne and Fonda. Three-time and defending 358 Modified track champion Ryan Susice is also looking to win his first Summer Nationals. “Mr. Small Block” Pete Bicknell, “CB3” Chad Brachmann, along with divisional rookies Matt Farnham, and Greg Martin are all looking to score the win against the Series top superstars.
Joining the Big Block Modified Super DIRTcar Series is the Investors Service Sportsman, and the KiPo Chevrolet Street Stocks. The Sportsman has been highly contested this season with eight different feature winners so far in the 2018 campaign. The Street Stocks have also been very competitive this season with the resurgence of “The Huckster” Cory Sawyer headlining the division into the month of August.

Pit gates will open at 3:30 pm with grandstand gates will open at 4:30 pm with Hot Laps at 6:15 pm. Time Trials for the Big Blocks will take place at 6:40 pm followed by opening ceremonies and the first green flag of the night will fly at 7:15 pm. Grandstand admission is $30 for adults, $25 for seniors. Kids admission is $10 for kids aged 8-12 and kids 8 and under are admitted FREE. Pit admission is $35 for members and $40 for non-members.
