The Gladiator MMXX: Big Block Modifieds Return to Genesee Speedway in 2020

By PHIL VIGNERI III

BATAVIA, NY – Fresh off a successful 2019 season, the Genesee Speedway is already hard at work compiling a number of exciting racing specials for fans to enjoy in 2020. Following their recent announcement of a World of Outlaws Late Model event on June 19th, the Genesee Speedway is ecstatic to announce the return of one of their premier events, The Gladiator. For a third consecutive year, fans of the Genesee County ⅓ mile oval will be able to experience the mighty Big Block Modifieds on Thursday, June 11th thanks in part to presenting sponsors; Wraptile Graphics and Professional Drainage Systems. Some of the Northeast’s best teams will do battle for 40 laps with $2,020 going to the winner.

In the previous two editions of The Gladiator, the popular “Helmet” trophy has been taken back home to Niagara County, both times by Ransomville, NY natives. Ryan Susice would dominate the 2018 program with Erick Rudolph taking top honors in 2019. Though there is no guarantee the trophy will not end up back in Ransomville, it is confirmed that another chapter of Gladiator history will be written on this Thursday night in June. Local businesses Wraptile Graphics and Professional Drainage Systems will return for a third straight season as title sponsors for the affair.

2020’s installment of The Gladiator will present drivers and teams of the event a new challenge in the form of a slightly adjusted rules package. Unlike years past, Hoosier Racing Tire will be the official tire of The Gladiator MMXX. Hoosier Tire Western New York has stepped up to offer drivers an increased purse and more contingency prizes than ever ($2,020 to win, $220 to start). The new tire rule will test the versatility of the Big Block drivers competing as well as that of their Small Block adversaries, who are still looking to take home their first 40 lap Gladiator victory. Dozens of contingency sponsorships will also be available for businesses, fans and teams alike. All monies raised will go directly to the drivers/teams along with the increased payout.

More news and information on the event will be announced as it becomes available. To follow along with the event, follow Genesee Speedway on Facebook or visit their website www.genesee-speedway.com
