Kissinger Takes Win on Thursday Night in Mod Main at the Gateway Dirt Nationals

ST. LOUIS, MO – A mid-race restart helped propel Levi Kissinger to win in the Thursday night portion of the Gateway Dirt Nationals for the Modifieds. Kissinger took the lead and ran away in the 20-lap affair to take home $3,000 at The Dome at America’s Center.

After a red flag on lap nine for a flipping Bobby Pierce, Kissinger got a great run on the outside of the speedway to take the top spot from Josh Harris.

“I started on the outside a couple restarts before and it had a lot of grip,” stated Kissinger. “It was hard to go get going on bottom on starts. Everyone was going to bottom. You had to hit it right and get through holes. I don’t know if I could have passed him if it wasn’t for that start.”

He was good over the final half of the race to hold on for the victory.

“This is 95 percent luck here,” joked Kissinger. “Luck has to fall your way in big races like this. This is five percent skill and 95 percent luck. I’d rather be lucky than good any day.”

Derek Losh finished in second with Harris holding on for third. They both lock into the Modified feature on Saturday night.

Jeffrey Ledford and Kc Burdette completed the top five.
