By TIM BALTZ

AKWESASNE, NY – After a week of horrible weather the staff and management aren’t about to let Mother Nature win 2 weeks in a row as the season opener is set to take place this coming Friday night.

All 5 divisions will be on the card and all defending track champions will be back and ready to go for 2017 along with the good folks at Cedarview Golf Club. Billy Dunn looks to continue his dominance in the 358 Modified division as he goes for his 6th straight title, Louie Jackson Jr. will be back but in a 358 Modified this year leaving the Sportsman title wide open. Deric Ellsworth will have his hands full in a bid for a 2nd straight Mod Lite title, Richard Thorton will look to get the bid for his 2nd straight Bandit title off on a good note and a solid Novice Sportsman class is set to roll this season as well.

With solid fields in all classes it will not only make for exciting racing, but also it is driver autograph night giving the chance for fans to get an up close view of their favorite cars and drivers at the Mohawk International Raceway. Be sure to have those hero cards, t-shirts and Sharpie’s ready to go!

In addition to the racing and driver autographs MIR staff and management knows the following from the Canadian fans is big for the speedway and will be accepting Canadian money at par at the front gate only this week, as well as May. 19 when the TUSA Mod Lite Series will be on hand along with a full show in all classes.
