Pictures, Line Ups and Predictions for Saturday’s 57th Annual Knoxville Nationals Finale – DTD Exclusive

By MIKE MALLETT

The greatest night in dirt track racing is upon us.  The finale of the Knoxville Nationals. Tonight marks the culmination of the four day grind that pushes drivers to their limits.  There is no greater pressure than every time you hit the track for the Knoxville Nationals.  20 drivers have already locked themselves into the 50-lap finale.  Four more will come tonight from the B-Main to set up the field.

As we did for the A-Main for the 360 Nationals, here is a pictorial presentation of the A-Main starting line up.

Predictions

B-Main Transfers: Just for fun my B-Main transfers to the A-Main will be Justin Henderson, Trey Starks to be joined by Christopher Bell and Tim Shaffer.  Henderson and Starks make up the front row with Bell coming from sixth to make the show and Shaffer driving from eighth to get in.

A-Main Winner: All the talk and picks have been centered on David Gravel.  Gravel showed tons of speed in his qualifying night to score a perfect 500.  That was an amazing accomplishment, but he wasn’t racing Donny Schatz.  Schatz wasn’t perfect, but his 492 was pretty good.  Starting on the outside of the front row I don’t think there is any way Schatz is denied another Knoxville Nationals title.  Gravel will make it interesting, but Schatz is my pick to pick up the $150,000 payday on Saturday night.
