The Finish Chaplain – Signs That Make You Wonder‏ – DTD Exclusive

Friday was a washout for any event we’d hope to have run. We did get the break in the clouds we prayed for earlier in the day but while the track crew attempted to make the mile race ready, more drizzle blew in from the Ohio basin and the officials deliberated and made the best decision for everyone to call it. The day long delay was an opportune time for me to stretch my legs and visit with people from one end of the pits to the other.

It was also nice to spend some time with our ministry’s long time friend Paul Faulkner. He used to travel to races with Bishop (then Pastor) David M. Wells when the Finish Line Chaplain ministry was in its infancy. I entered the ministry just a few years before I was asked to join the work we do for the racing community. That was 18 years ago. I’m grateful to be a part of it, and to carry our 36 year association with DIRT, and now Dirtcar into the future.

While most of the fairgrounds were quiet God was making His Word heard to one man that got blessed with a miraculous healing. I had a verse in Mark highlighted to me earlier in the morning and spent some time in prayer asking The Lord to teach me more about what I read. I knew what I had read was a truth I’ve applied to my life and ministry but for some reason, having read the bible cover to cover several times, it was the first time I remember seeing with my own eyes in His Word. Listen to this as you read it.

“And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen. (‭Mark‬ ‭16‬:‭20‬ NKJV)”

This is a description of what was taking place as the Apostles were building the Church by evangelizing the known world after Jesus Christ ascended to the right hand of the Father. Since we still live in the age of grace, known as the Church age, we should always expect the same experiences when we preach (speak, and teach) God’s Word. Those that wrote the New Testament down for us to live by were living Epistles with their lifestyle of individual ministries. The truth to capture here is that Jesus Christ works with us by confirming His Word with signs as we speak it. What signs can we expect. Looking at the life of Christ we can see the examples He set, the works He performed, and the signs of His divinity in all of them. All we need to do is believe and receive His promises by faith in His ability to performs them. Then we can experience them.

This particular man was suffering from some physical ailments which included a torn rotator cup and a nagging neck pain. After strengthening his faith with some scriptural promises that reveal God’s willingness to heal him; I prayed for him by laying my hands on those areas and speaking God’s word to the symptoms. He felt instant relief and improved mobility. Jesus showed up and worked with me with the signs that confirm His Word is true and is works today. I saw the same man Saturday morning and his posture had improved, but more importantly the pain had left too. His joy was un-containable when he saw me but I was quick to give all the glory to God, because He’s the One that showed up to meet that mans needs. The awesome thing is that God is not partial to mankind. He will do for anyone what. He’s done for another.

I’m excited and expectant for every opportunity to pray because that single experience is proof that God hears, identifies, responds, and cares for everyone willing to look to Him.

Our Racer’s Chapel will be in the Finish Line Chaplain tent in the infield at the mile on the west side of Twin Tree’s concession. We’ll be meeting at 9:45 Sunday Morning with a guest singer or two, and a great word that’s sure to stir you’re hear up. We hope to see everyone there since this is the last time we’ll be doing a chapel service for you at the famed mile.
