Nearly 40 Modifieds, Sportsman and Pro Stocks put on a show for the Oswego community on Wednesday afternoon with the annual Super DIRT Week Parade.

Known as one of the fastest parades it took all of two minutes and fifty-one seconds to pass a parade watcher.

The event was led by Mayor Billy Barlow in the DIRTcar pace car and the teams were escorted by Oswego City Police and Oswego Fire Department.

Modified driver Chris Hile, who recently moved to Oswego, participated for the second year and said, “It was FANTASTIC with all capital letters. It is great for the City of Oswego.  Super DIRT Week brings in financial boost for the small businesses. The turnout of cars is bigger and there seemed to be more and more people. It is important to interact with the community and get the buzz going.”

Jessica Power, a Sportsman driver from Kingston, Ontario, had participated in the parade every year and said, “It is great. It is great for the community and allows us to showcase our stuff. We aren’t a big name or a big team, but it is great to give back. The school kids were excited and there were tons more people. We never had an opportunity to do something like this in Syracuse. It is a way to show our appreciation.”

Sportsman driver Colby Herzog is just one of the little guys who said, “My chances of qualifying are slim, but I’ve never even seen a Super DIRT Week before. The parade was great. It was weird driving on Oswego streets and it was so cool to see the kids faces. In fact I put it in neutral and revved it up. It was great.”

Among the drivers participating in the parade were Chris Hile, Rob Hile in the Small Block his brother will drive this weekend, Peter Brittan, Jessica Power, Amy Holland, Colby Herzog, Billy Whittaker, D.J Forbes, Demetrios Drellos, Darryl Nutting, Derrick McGrew Jr., Billy Clark, JR., Ryan Godown, Kyle Coffey, Tyler Corcoran, Ben Bushaw, Brian Carter, Dinkens, Brandon Carvey, Richard Murtaugh III and others.
