Addison Bowman: Surprise of Sportsman Qualifying – DTD Exclusive

OSWEGO, N.Y. (October 11, 2019) — “I really don’t have words to describe how I feel right now,” said Mexico, N.Y. teenager Addison Bowman as he shocked the Sportsmen field in qualifying for the Chevy Performance 75 scheduled for Sunday.

Bowman timed in at 22.619 and that stood for a long time.

He said, “I was sitting there and saw my number on the board. I was nervous if I could even make the top six. I then realized that only Kevin Root and Matt Janczuk were left, and I knew I was in.”

Continuing he said, “It is incredible. Our goal was to make this race and maybe do well. I never thought this would happen in my first full year of racing Sportsmen. In fact, I didn’t know if this would ever happen. My goal was to make this race and it is so cool to be here.”

He said, “I really have to thank my crew guys and Joe Domicolo for what he does. He was here until late last night getting tires ready for today.”

Bowman was a regular at the Fulton Speedway this year where his best finish was a third place.

He has shown continued improvement and said, “We’ve had our share of setbacks and that is what makes this more incredible.

Addison is a 17-year-old senior at Mexico Academy and Central School who ran quarter midgets from the age of five to nine and then “I decided to ride horses and then began racing Sportsmen last year.”

Bowman is sitting among the elite in Sportsmen racing as he is surrounded by Kevin Root, Robert Delormier, Jamie Begor and Moise Page as the top six are locked in.
