Dylan Evoy Gets Third Place Finish at Brockville; Mohawk Raceway Falls to Rain For the Second Week in a Row

2012-2

After a disappointing weekend last week, with a rainout at Mohawk International, and an issue while leading late in the race at Brockville Speedway, Evoy was looking forward to getting back on the track and building some momentum as the racing action begins to heat up as the summer approaches.

Evoy made the trip to Mohawk International Raceway on Friday night, and like the previous week, rain was forecasted.  This time, the rain held off until early evening before the skies opened up and produced very heavy rain and large hail.  The storm certainly made a mess, but with clearing skies expected behind the storm, the track officials decided that they were going to get the track worked in, and racing would still take place.  Two hours later, the track was coming into shape nicely, but a lingering shower passed over the track and the decision was made to cancel the racing program.

Rain was forecasted again for Saturday as well, but Brockville Speedway remained dry, and the racing action continued as scheduled.  Evoy started sixth in his qualifying heat race, and advanced to second before the finish.  After making a few adjustments to the car, Evoy rolled off the starting grid from the 11th position, and made steady progress through the opening laps.  By lap 10 he was up to sixth and launched into the top five just one lap later.  Evoy would climb to third before the end of the 25 lap event.

“It wasn’t a bad finish, but the car was just too tight to challenge for the win tonight”, says Evoy after the race.  “We will keep working at it, and hopefully next week be better”.

This coming weekend Evoy will be back at Mohawk International Raceway on Friday night, before returning home to race at Brockville Speedway on Saturday.
