JR Heffner Headed Back To Asphalt Racing This Week In Indianapolis

Pittsfield, MA (July 27, 2011) – JR Heffner has experience on both dirt and asphalt surfaces.  A two-time Dirt Big Block Modified champion at the Lebanon Valley Speedway, Heffner has run in several ARCA events over the past few racing seasons.  This Thursday, Heffner and the A. Colarusso & Son, Park East Sales team will make the trip to Lucas Oil Raceway (LOR) in Indianapolis, IN for the Ansell Protective Gloves 200.

LOR will be the team’s first attempt on asphalt in 2011.  They did, however, log a considerable amount of laps in a recent test session at the Albany-Saratoga Speedway in Malta, NY, in preparation for the event.

Under the direction of championship-winning crew chief Steve Hart, Heffner feels confident that the team will have a successful outing at LOR.

“I am super excited for the opportunity to race at Lucas Oil Raceway,” Heffner said.  “The team has put forth an impressive effort to get our Chevrolet ready to go.  Steve and all of the guys on the team have worked hard to get our #99 ready for action, and I feel we are well-prepared for competition.”

The team has cautious optimism going into the first event for the 2011 season and is eager to get going and show what the car is capable of.

“I am pleased with our results from the Malta (NY) test as we kept our goals realistic,” Hart said.  “We put JR in the car for over 150 laps and concentrated on getting the car to handle through the center of the turns.  Things went well and although there are many unknowns going into this race, we feel optimistic we can produce a quality finish.”

In addition to ARCA racing this year, Heffner is currently in contention for another Big Block Dirt Modified Championship at Lebanon Valley.  He currently sits fourth (4th) in points with one win, six top 5’s and eight top 10’s.
