Donny Schatz: This is an obvious choice because, well, it’s Schatz. He is the best Sprint Car driver on the planet and already has two wins in the event (2007, 2009). But what is scary about Schatz is that he was 11th and seventh at Dodge City Raceway last weekend. He rarely has back-to-back bad weeks.

Joey Saldana: The good news is that Saldana is a two-time champ (2002, 2006) and has three top fives. Bad news is that the Indiana driver’s had bad luck in the last six Kings Royal races and hasn’t been in the top five since 2007. Saldana is due.

Brad Sweet: The California kid has run this race three times and has two top-five finishes, including a dominating win in last year’s race. That might be a bad thing, as no driver has ever repeated as Kings Royal champion. Still, Sweet is awfully good at the “Big E.”
