Port Royal – This Saturday night, July 12 will be Kids Night at Port Royal Speedway when the track will present a 25-lap championship event for the Jake’s Carts/Enviroman Products super late models along with a full program of Aumiller’s Insurance 410 sprints and Gray’s Auto and Towing 355 econo late models.
The super late model main will pay $2,000 to win and $200 to start with group time trials in warm ups setting the starting grids.
Kids Night activities will begin when gates open at 4:30 pm with racing starting at 7:30.
Following the purchase of admission tickets, registration for kids prizes will take place underneath the grandstand after which prizes can be claimed in the commercial building on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Kids bicycle and power wheels races for youth ages 12 and under will take place on the frontstretch during intermission. Helmets are required in order to compete.
The oval will be dark on July 19 for Summer Break before closing out the month on July 26 with Whelen Engineering Juniata County Fire and Rescue EMS Night.
Prior to the races a Life Flight Helicopter from Geisinger Medical Center will touch down in the infield of the oval beginning at approximately 5:30 pm.
On display adjacent to the speedway will be dozens of rescue and emergency apparatus from various Juniata County fire and ambulance companies with a parade of engines and coaches taking place on the speedway at intermission.
Fire truck rides around speedway grounds for youth will take place from 5:30 to 6:45 pm.
Also on the July 26 agenda is the First National Bank of Mifflintown Kids Money Scramble, slated to take place on the frontstretch following practice laps.
Some $1,000 in coins will be scattered on the speedway for ages 12 and under to gather as sponsored by FNB of Mifflintown and Port Royal Speedway.
Racing on the night will include 410 sprints, super late models and the River Valley Builders 305 sprints, beginning at 7:30 pm.
