Genesee Speedway meet and greet a great success.

Batavia, NY—Feb. 12, 2007--By: Chris Rhynold, Media/Racer Relations Director

The Batavia Party House was packed with racers and their teams for the first meeting with the new staff of Genesee Speedway. 200 plus were in attendance to hear about the changes, upgrades and the status of the speedway. Rich Vleck who is one of the announcing team from Genesee Speedway and the emcee for the event, started the meeting off by introducing Mike Lauterborn to the full house.

“We would like to thank all of you that have come out for today’s meeting. It is great to see that you are all coming out to support us” stated Lauterborn.

Lauterborn then went on and introduced the new staff at Genesee Speedway for the 2007 racing season.

John Veach (Head Starter), Bill Alhart (Race Director), Rich Vleck (Announcer), Mike Paz (Announcer), Chris Rhynold (Media/Racer Relations Director), Don Marsceill (Track Prep), Jeff Anstett (Pit Steward), Mike Lane (Back-Stretch Flagman), Roy Amedick (Infield Director), Joe Steinwachs (Security), Ron McLaud (Tech Inspector) and others to name a few.

Lauterborn, talked with racers about changes that need to be made at the speedway and informed the teams and racers at just how close they were to losing the facility they race at. Issues such as the addition of mufflers that will be mandatory to all classes was addressed and tire resolutions for the Super Stocks. The Super Stocks will be given a 3 week grace period to burn off any “0” tires they have. After the 3 week period the Super Stocks will be required to run a “1” tire. Lauterborn also axed the $5 dollar charge for cars at the back gate, which received a round of applause from the racers. Lauterborn also informed the racers that the big tires from the corners will also be removed from the infield.

“We are looking to make a lot of improvements at the track. Our goal is to make Genesee Speedway a premier facility” stated Lauterborn.

Jeff Anstett then took the microphone to address some procedural issues and Rich Vleck discussed the doing away of the handicap system and introduced the new draw system that will set the heats and features.

Billy Colton of Troyer Race Cars informed the room full of racers of how lucky they are that Mike Lauterborn has taken over the position as promoter at Genesee Speedway and has supplied Genesee Speedway with a brand new 2006 Troyer Chassis to be raffled off at the end of the season. More info on the raffle will be addressed at a later date. Colton also announced that Troyer Race Cars will be holding seminars at the track. More info on the seminars will be released when they are finalized.

As an added bonus to the racers, Bob Mullen and East Coast Speed donated trophies for the top 5 finishers in each class from the 2006 points season.

At the end of the meeting the staff entertained questions and suggestions from the racers, which supplied the staff with valuable information to help make the 2007 season successful. Genesee Speedway also secured a sponsor for the Super Stock division and added 2 night sponsors on the schedule.

With the attendance that was drawn to the meeting and the response the staff received from the racers, 2007 looks to be the turn around season for Genesee Speedway and we look very forward to seeing all the racers at the track this season. With out the racers there is no Genesee Speedway.
