RACE OF CHAMPIONS DIRT TOUR SCHEDULE SET FOR 2007. THIRD SEASON OF RACING SET TO GO GREEN ON SATURDAY, APRIL 7TH AT FONDA SPEEDWAY FOR ANNUAL ICE JAM EVENT.

BINGHAMTON, NY...The Race of Champions Dirt Modified and Sportsman tour schedules have been finalized and were recently announced during Speedweeks in Florida. The 2007 season will mark the third year of competition for the R.o.C Dirt trail. The Modified Tour will go green on Saturday, April 7th at the Fonda Speedway for the annual Ice Jam. The Race of Champions Dirt Sportsman Tour will get underway for the annual Southern Tier Open event at Five Mile Point Speedway on Sunday, April 15th.

The eleven race R.o.C Dirt Modified Tour will see four regional events during the course of the racing season for both the north and south drivers. Three combination races will determine the overall title once again this season. Last year Mitch Gibbs recorded the victory in the opening Ice Jam event at Fonda Speedway. The win at Fonda helped vault Gibbs to the R.o.C North Regional Championship. He ultimately came up eighteen points behind eventual overall R.o.C Tour Champion Alan Johnson in the final combination events. Jimmy Horton was the Race of Champions South Regional Champions despite going winless. Horton will be looking to notch his first R.o.C Dirt Modified win in 2007.

R.o.C Dirt Modified South Regional events will take place at the following: (Big Diamond Raceway, Tuesday, June 19th - Five Mile Point Speedway, Wednesday, July 11th - Penn Can Speedway, Tuesday, July 31st - Five Mile Point Speedway, Wednesday, August 8th). The R.o.C Dirt Modified North Regional events will be held at: (Fonda Speedway, Saturday, April 7th - Utica Rome Speedway, Sunday, May 13th - Albany Saratoga Speedway, Friday, June 29th - Utica Rome Speedway, Wednesday, July 25th). Once again bonus points will be awarded to any driver that wins a heat race or that attends all eight regional events. Those points will carry over to the final three combination races that will determine the overall crown.

Three combination races will settle the overall Race of Champions Dirt Modified Tour in 2007. A 100 lap event at Penn Can Speedway will get things underway on Sunday, September 17th as part of their annual Kings Weekend. Last year Joey Grammes powered around both Danny and Alan Johnson on the final lap to record the King of the Can title. The tour will move to Fonda Speedway on Sunday, September 24th for the 100 lap McDonalds Weekend event. The finale will take place on Saturday, October 13th at Five Mile Point Speedway with the running of the Annual Southern Tier 100. Last year Danny Johnson emerged the winner of the fall classic.

Race of Champions Dirt Tour Director Andrew Harpell remarked, "We are extremely excited about our upcoming schedule. We spoke to many of our race teams during the off-season and they all indicated this type of schedule will be much more manageable." He added, "Our upcoming schedule will allow for many more teams to compete in both regions throughout the season - you could call this years version "the less is more tour" for 2007." Harpell added that the 2007 drivers point fund will remain at least the same as last season and could grow even more based on additional sponsorship.

The Race of Champions Dirt Sportsman Tour will see an increase in purse money at each event this season. The tour will go green at Five Mile Point Speedway with a south region event on Sunday, April 15th. The first R.o.C Dirt Sportsman 100 will then culminate the overall title on Friday, October 12 at Five Mile Point Speedway. Last year Danny Creedan was the overall and South Region Sportsman R.o.C Champion. Steve Way was the R.o.C Sportsman North Region Champion. With regard to the R.o.C Sportsman schedule Harpell commented, "We worked very hard to make the Sportsman schedule very obtainable for everyone as well. The combination events will be truly special as we have set dates that will allow all the southern teams to be involved. With the move of the Fonda Sportsman event to Sunday the Pennsylvania and New Jersey teams will now be in action."

R.o.C Sportsman South Region Events: (Sunday, April 15th Five Mile Point Speedway - Friday, April 20th Penn Can Speedway - Tuesday, June 19th Big Diamond Raceway - Wednesday, July 11th Five Mile Point Speedway -Wednesday, August 22nd Five Mile Point Speedway). R.o.C Sportsman North Region Events: (Sunday, May 20th Utica Rome Speedway - Wednesday, July 18th Fonda Speedway - Wednesday, July 25th Utica Rome Speedway - Friday, September 15th Utica Rome Speedway). Race of Champions Dirt Sportsman Combination Events: Sunday, September 17th Penn Can Speedway - Sunday, September 24th Fonda Speedway - Friday, October 12th Five Mile Point Speedway).
