The Mid-Atlantic Championship Series continues to work on the 2007 schedule with only one month before the first green flag drops on the season. In the first draft, several dates inadvertently had the incorrect date posted. Those dates involved the Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends.
The corrected dates for Memorial Day 2007 are Friday, May 25, Skyline Speedway, Stewart, OH; Saturday, May 26, Portsmouth Raceway Park; and Sunday, May 27, Central Pennsylvania Speedway, Clearfield, PA. The fourth incorrect date was Lernerville Speedway, Sarver , PA. The corrected date is Friday, August 31.
The MACS season does kick off on Saturday, April 7, at Rick and Ernie Jones, Oval Track Promotions, Allegany County Speedway, Cumberland , MD. The Jones brothers are conducting an open practice Friday night, April 6 prior to Saturday’s $5,000 to-win show.
The picturesque 5/8 mile, slightly banked speed plant affectionately known as “The Rock” captures the high octane, 800 horsepower Super Late models for a 44-lap shootout. This is the first of three scheduled appearance of the Series for the season at Cumberland . The A Main pays carries a $32,700 purse.
Past Series winners at “The Rock” include: Gary Stuhler, Steve Shaver, and Rick Elliott in 2006; Steve Francis during the inaugural season of the “Big Kahuna” in ‘01; Bo Feathers (‘00); as well as Gary Stuhler in 1998. The lone 2005 appearance was rained out and unable to be rescheduled. The average car count in the three events presented was 46 cars.
April 7, the pit gate opens at 3:00 p.m., with the drivers meeting at 5:30 p.m. Hot laps are scheduled for 6:00 p.m. with time trails slate for 6:15 p.m. Racing will immediately follow the conclusion of time trials at approximately 7:00 p.m. For more information contact the “The Rocks’ web address is www.therockspeedway.com. or the Series at http://www.macsracing.com.

All drivers who do not transfer to the A Main will receive $125.00.
Series regulars anticipated for the event are: defending Series Champion Jason Covert; 2005 Champion, Mike Balzano; Robbie Blair, 2004 Series Champion; “Hot Rod” Rod Conley, 2002 Champion Jack Pencil; and 2006 and 2005 WRISCO Aluminum MACS Rookies of the Year Nick Dickson and Devin Friese respectively; Doug Drown, in addition to the WRISCO Aluminum MACS ROY competitors who have declared thus far, in alphabetical order: Matt Lux (PA), and Jarred Teegarden (VA).
Each regular MACS event consist of AlturnaMats® “Shock the Clock” time trials presented by Sue Stevenson Photography, AlturnaMats ® “Dash King” competition presented by Wild Side Custom Racing Trailers; heats are presented by Bud Watson’s Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic (HTMA) and Hoosier Racing Tires; Lias Tire Racing Division/American Racer; Dave Poske Performance Parts/Hoosier Tire Ohio Valley and Rocket Chassis; ATL Fuel Cells and BERT Transmission; Mason Racin’ and GRT Chassis; Frankland Racing Supply and American Die Cast; King’s Jewelry/Artcarved; Pietragallo, Bosick & Gordon, Corporate Lawyers Pittsburgh and Design 500 Racewear; and the Sunoco Race Fuels 1st B Main presented by Bazell Fuels as well as the Warrior Race Cars 2nd B Main presented by Goddard Performance Parts. Additionally, the WRISCO Aluminum MACS ROY chase will determine the ROY title. Other sponsors included Booze Brothers Racing and Country Candles. Lee Havlik’s Chase Decals; (IA) is providing a $100 gift certificate per event for the “Hard Luck” Award. Additionally Chase Decals will be providing $800 gift certificate for the MACS 2007 Champion as well as for the WRISCO Aluminum MACS ROY and the driver in the top 10 with the worst luck of the season.
Duralite Wheels, (OK) are awarding six new aluminum wheels to drivers in the final top ten of points. Four wheels will be standard late model aluminum wheels while the two will be beadlock wheel.
ACPT Carbon Fiber Drive Shafts (CA) will be awarding a new customized carbon fiber drive shaft to one of the drivers in the final top ten of points.
Ron “Flea” Fleenor’s Custom Helmet Art (NC) is providing a customized helmet paint job for the champion as well as the WRISCO Aluminum MACS ROY.
Jamie Christy’s Impact Graphics (KY) will be picking ten races providing $100 gift certificate for the “Quick Time Award” and if that same driver that sets fast time is able to win that night’s feature s/he will earn an additional $100 gift certificate. Impact will also provide a complete decal job for the 5th place finisher in the final points standings valued at $800 as well as a $250 gift certificate to the 7th place finisher in the final points standings. |
