Glen Ridge To Play Host To The DART Dirt Series

Fultonville, NY: The Glen Ridge Motorsports Park was apart of this past weekends Motorsports Expo at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse. A steady stream of race fans, drivers and media visited the sharp looking Glen Ridge booth during the three-day show.

A major announcement was made on Sunday afternoon.

For the first time Glen Ridge will play host to a major stock car touring series. The brand new Dart Dirt Sportsman Series, along with the Dart Dirt Street Stock/Pure Stock series will each make a single visit to the fast Montgomery County three-eighths mile oval.

The Sportsman series event will run on Saturday September 1st. This series will utilize the 2004 Dirt Sportsman rules. American Racer, Goodyear and Hoosier tires will all be allowed as will Steel or Aluminum wheels. Specific rules, including tire compounds can be found on the series website.

The event will be 30 laps and pay $800 to win. Glen Ridge Modified (who meet the rules) and Budget Sportsman will each be eligible to compete. This will be a non points race for those Glen Ridge Modified drivers however all Glen Ridge Budget Sportsman drivers who compete will earn a 20 point bonus.

The winner of this race will earn a guaranteed starting spot in the 2nd Annual Capital District 50 – apart of the 4th Annual Thunder On The Mountain Weekend. In addition, the top finishing Glen Ridge Budget Sportsman driver will earn a spot in the Budget Classic, which is also apart of the September 8th, and 9th weekend activities.

Sunday September 30th will be the date for the Dart Dirt Street Stock/Pure Stock Series 25 lap event. The winner will go home with $400. Specific rules will be available on the Series website located at www.dartdirt.com.

In an effort to encourage Glen Ridge regulars to support this show, the track will take the names of all competing track regulars, put them in a drawing and the winner will receive a free seasons pit pass for the 2008 Glen Ridge season. A second and third name will also be drawn with the prizes to be announced. All three will be awarded at the 2007 Glen Ridge Awards Banquet in November.

“I am excited that Glen Ridge will be apart of the Dart Dirt Series,” stated track Race Director Toby LaGrange. “After talking with Bob Henry all weekend, we feel the series and our track share the same goals. The 2007 season will be a break out year for Glen Ridge”.
