Accord, NY - Veterans Bill Papula and John Lutes Jr Named as Drivers

Longtime car owners, Bill and John "AJ" Lutes have announced plans for a 2 car assault during the 2007 racing season at Accord Speedway. Veteran hot shoe, Bill Papula, racing out of Beacon, NY, and known to most as the "Fastest School Teacher in the East" will strap himself into one car and John Lutes Jr will drive the second entry. Papula, who enters his 25th year in racing, will steer a 1999 Teo car, while Lutes, who is entering his 14th year in racing, will have a 2002 Teo car at his disposal. While both drivers are no strangers to Accord, it has been some time since they have been regulars at the speedway.

Both cars have been totally rebuilt over the winter months and are ready to shake down on the April 6th and April 13th practice nights Accord Promoter Gary Palmer has set aside for the drivers to test and tune their equipment in preparation for the season opener on April 20th. The lid lifter at the Ulster County "Action Track" will feature racing in all divisions, highlighted by a 50 lap, $2,000.00 to win feature event for the ground pounding Modifieds.

Through a recent phone conversation, Co-owner Bill Lutes stated, "We have spent countless hours and dollars to prepare our cars for the 2007 racing season at Accord. We currently have no sponsors signed on for the new season and are funding the cars out of our own pockets. Although we are quite proud of our efforts, we are seeking anyone who may have an interest in getting involved with our racing team through sponsorship. We would appreciate any and all help."

For Lutes Family Racing, they enter the 2007 racing season with the same determination and dedication thay have had for all of their previous 35 years in Motorsports.

Accord Speedway will have a booth at this week's Middletown Motorsports Show, March 16th to the 18th. 2007 racing schedules and rule books will be available throughout the course of the weekend. Show hours are 5 to 11 on Friday, 10 to 10 on Saturday and 10 to 5 on Sunday.
