Fultonville, NY: The Glen Ridge Motorsports Park will crown more than just track champions come banquet time in November.
The Glen Ridge Rookie Of The Year Awards will be handed out in the Modified, Budget Sportsman, Street Stock, Cruiser and Pro Stock divisions. There will also be an overall track Rookie Of The Year Award presented.
The divisional awards will be determined by a point system separate from the regular track championship standings. Each rookie that starts a feature will earn five points with the points scale going up five for every position.
For example, if four rookies start the modified feature the highest finishing driver will earn 20 points, second 15, third 10 and fourth five points.
A feature win will earn the rookie driver a ten point bonus while a heat race win will garner a two point bonus. The driver with the highest point total in each division will be crowned Rookie Of The Year.
The overall Glen Ridge Motorsports Park Rookie Of The Year will be chosen by Glen Ridge from the five divisional winners.
In order to be eligible for the Rookie Of The Year Award a driver may not have started more than five races in that division in the past ten years. All participants are at the discretion of the Glen Ridge Motorsports Park.
As of this writing over 20 drivers have signed up for the Glen Ridge Rookie Of The Year Program.
