Lernerville Speedway Clearview Mall Card Show Award Winners

Posted by Late Model Editor  |  03/19/07

With the Clearview Mall Car show now in the rearview mirror, the Lernerville Speedway would like to thank and recognize every car owner, driver, and crew member who logged countless hours building, painting, decaling, and preparing, then showing off the 2007 version of their racecar during the 3 day car show. Every car in the show was very much appreciated and worthy of the following awards. During the car show media members and fans voted for the best looking, most unique, and/or most detailed car in the show.

In a landslide victory, young Danny Holtgraver's D4 Sprint Car won the 2007 Lernerville Speedway Best in Show Award. The Best in Show Award was voted on by a random panel of Media Members and Track Officials. Danny received 11 votes, Carl Bowser was the only other car to receive votes with 2 nominations. Danny will be presented with a Trophy Opening Night, in addition to the Bruce Cooper Decal recognizing the Best in Show 2007 he received at the car show Saturday Night.

Fans were also able to vote for their favorite cars and paint schemes during the car show in the "Fan Favorite" contest. Unfortunately, voting was only open Thursday and Friday, while most fans did not make it to the show until the weather cleared up Saturday. Plans are to keep voting open until early evening on Saturday next year. But nonetheless, those who came out Thursday and braved the winter weater on Friday were able to vote for their favorites.

The fans have spoke and the following drivers have been named "Fan Favorite" of the 2007 Lernerville Speedway Car Show. In the Commercial Truck & Trailer Sprint division, Carl Bowser (#10) was the leading vote getter, followed his father Terry Bowser (#59), and Gary Rankin's (#16) Breast Cancer Awareness inspired Pink paint scheme. In the Friedman's Supermarkets Late Models Chuck Sarver (#88) received the most votes, followed by the Osmer Racing #6A driven by Check Kennedy and Tony Burke (#23) who tied for 2nd place. Todd Bachman, John Garvin, John Garvin, Jr., Mike Hite, Bryant Hank and Jimmie Pitkavish received mutliple votes and had beautiful cars. Brian Swartzlander (#83) won the Fan Favorite Award for the Ferrante Motor Cars Modifieds, while Dave Murdick (#61) and Carl Murdick (#6) received 2nd and 3rd place in the division. As is the case on most Fab Four Fast Friday Nights, the Pure Stocks were the most hotly contested division for Fan Favorite voting. Receiving more votes than any other car/driver in the show, Greg Beech (#33x) won the Fan Favorite for the Advance Auto Parts Pure Stocks. Jake Ayers (#4) came in 2nd just a few votes ahead of Bob Egley (#30). Butch Lambert (#27), "Brew" Baker (#2) and Terry Young (28Y) each received enough votes to have placed top 3 in other divisions!

There were also over 200 applicants for the "Fan of the Week" for Opening Night, March 30. The opening night drawing was won by 6 & 1/2 year old Derek Kern of Sarver, PA. Derek will receive 2 Free tickets for Opening Night, a Lernerville Hat or T-Shirt, a meal voucher, a tour of the press box, and a trip to Victory Lane for the first feature of the 2007 winner. While in the press box, Derek will reach into the bin and select the "Fan of the Week" for the following Fab Four Fast Friday Night show. Applications will be kept all season long, and everyone who signs up will be entered into a drawing to win 2 Free tickets for the World of Outlaws Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup XVI on July 17. Then on the final night of points racing, one "Fan of the Week" apllicant will be drawn and win 4 Free tickets for the Advance Auto Parts Autumn-Motive Fest on September 14 & 15.

Lernerville Speedway and PR Director Eric Westendorf would like to express a special "Thank You!" to 2006 Track Champions Kevin Bolland, Lynn Geisler, Butch Lambert, and Kevin Schaeffer for selflessly volunteering their time to sign autographs during the car show for fans of all ages. An extra special Thanks to Kevin Bolland for braving the wintry weather and snow-covered roads to appear Friday Night for the few fans who braved the last stand of winter!
