Virginia Motor Speedway opens season this weekend.

SEASON OPENER FOR VIRGINIA MOTOR SPEEDWAY THIS SATURDAY MARCH 24TH.


Jamaica, VA – Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway will swing the gates open for the ½ mile, high-banked clay oval speed plants 38th Season Opener, which will kick off the speedway’s most aggressive schedule to date, on Saturday Night, March 24th. With an emphasis on Fast Family Fun the 2007 schedule is packed with quality family entertainment from start to finish and is highlighted with 26 weeks of Championship action and nine special events and thrilling attractions for the entire family!



WRAR 105.5 Opening Night festivities will include four divisions of exciting high octane, side by side dirt track racing. Competitor gates for Saturday, March 24th will open at 12 noon with spectator gates opening at 4pm. On track activities will begin at 6:15pm with hot laps. Divisions scheduled to race on Saturday: Victory Lap Late Models (35 Laps); Budweiser Modified (25 Laps); New Generation Racing Sprint Cars (25 laps); and the VMS All Americans (15 Laps). Late Model, Modified and Sprint Car divisions will run Hot Lap Time Trials and Features only. All Americans will run Hot Lap Time Trials, heats and feature.



Admission price for Adults $10, Seniors and Military $8; Students 13 – 17 years old $7, Children 7 – 12 years old $4 and Children 6 and under admitted free. The speedway offers a $2 discount coupon on the Speedway’s Website, good on any Adult, Senior and Military tickets only. Fans need to have a coupon for each ticket purchased. The speedway also offers a “Family Pack” that includes two adult admissions and two children 12 and under admissions for only $20.



Heading into opening night, 147 competitors are pre-registered and ready to compete for the six coveted titles and overall Thurston Spring Service Dirt Series Championship at Virginia Motor Speedway. Speedway officials are expecting to see even more competitors registering during the first two weeks of competition.



Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway, an ASA Member Track affiliate, is a 1/2-mile, dirt oval. The track is located on U.S. Route 17, eight miles north of Saluda, VA and 25 miles south of Tappahannock, VA in Jamaica, VA. The speedway is just a short drive from Richmond, Fredericksburg, Southern Maryland and the Hampton Roads areas.
