BROCKVILLE-The countdown is well underway as May 19th nears and with it the start of another exciting season of DIRT racing at Brockville Ontario Speedway.
The fast quarter mile clay oval just north of Brockville recently released it's 2007 racing schedule. It includes visits by both the Advance Auto Parts Super DIRT series Big Block Modified tour in July and the DIRT 358 Modified tour in September in addition to another 100 lap small block event as part of the Lucas Oil Canadian DIRT Challenge. For the small blocks, the September 15th event will be the only double point race on the tour this season. Sprint Car fans will be treated to a pair of runs by the ASCS Sprint Car tour along with an appearance by the always popular Empire Super Sprints.
The regular Saturday night programs will feature 358 DIRT Modifieds, DIRT Sportsman, Street Stocks and Rookies along with fairly regular appearances by the McNamee Concreate Vintage Cars. Some new sponsors have come on board for 2007 as the BOS welcomes Jiffy Auto Service and Goodyear as the backers of the Rookie or four cylinder division. Street Stock drivers will be encouraged that their rule book has been aligned closely with Cornwall Motor Speedway, so they they can run both tracks with virtually the same rules this season. Riverside Pontiac Buick have taken over as the crate engine supplier to Brockville's DIRT Sportsman division.
Enduro fans will be treated to some Saturday night appearances by their favorite kind of racing in addition to the traditional two major enduros in June and September presented by Kanes Towing. Go Kart racing will again be the order of the day on Wednesday's on the inside track. It gets underway May 30th this year. The Speedway will officially close the 2006 season with it's annual awards banquet on April 7th at the Brockville Memorial Centre. A season preview mall show is set for March 22nd to 24th at the Frontenac Mall in Kingston.
