Independence Motor Speedway car show and practice set for April 7
INDEPENDENCE, Iowa - Fans will again have the chance to view the cars of the competitors of Independence Motor Speedway prior to the start of the weekly on-track battles. The annual car show will be held in the parking lots of Independence Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge and Pinicon Ford on 1st Street in Independence on Saturday, April 7.
Registration for the annual event will begin at 8 a.m. followed by the show from 9-12 noon. During the show, fans in attendance will have the opportunity to vote on the best appearing car in each of the five divisions - late model, modified, stock car, hobby stock and B modified. In addition to a Best of Show Award, a Drivers' Choice Award is being introduced this year.
The car show, which has grown in attendance every year, boasted over 40 entrants in 2006 with more are expected this year. Brite-95.3 Radio will once again be doing a live remote broadcast and interviewing drivers and fans. Representatives from McDonald's will also on-hand to distribute breakfast products for participants and the local Boosters Club will have concessions available.
Following the car show, a pre-season practice session will be held at Independence Motor Speedway. Gates will open at 1 p.m. with practice scheduled for 2-5. Pit passes will be $10 each. Drivers who display their cars at the car show will be given a free pit pass for the test-and-tune. There will be no charge to enter the grandstands and coolers are welcome.
