Bob Myers Crew Chief and Car Owner Succumbs After Brief Illness

Popular MACS Series crew chief and car owner, Robert W. Myers, 56, Millersburg , OH passed away Tuesday, March 20, at Akron City Hospital in Akron , after a short illness.

Bob, an ardent support of the Mid-Atlantic Championship Series, fielded cars for his son, Ty. This tight knit family duo copped the 2004 WRISCO Aluminum MACS Rookie of the Year Title as well as a solid sixth place finish in the final point standings that year. Ty and Bob had teamed up for the last 7 years with the very familiar black #333.

Bob, a prominent businessman in Clark , had three successful organizations under his watchful eye. In 1993 he built a gas station, convenience store, and service station, which he owned and operated until his passing. Additionally, he was a Clark Township Trustee for 18 years and a member of Millersburg Spartan Lodge F&AM 126.

During this past years campaign the Myers Union 76 Grand Prix powered by a 406 RMR Chevrolet was equipped Penske Shocks and shod with American Racer Tires had limited appearances with the Series; however; in 2004 Ty and Bob made all 24 Series events starting 13 A Mains as they recorded 4 top 10’s.

“Bob was a great guy” commented Jeff Geesey, Series PR Director. “He would always greet you with a beaming smile and a hearty hand shake as he was truly glad to see you. Are hearts are saddened with his passing and he will be missed tremendously. Our sympathies, thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Myers family as they grieve their loss,” concluded Geesey.
