Spring is finally here! The snow and ice have finally melted away, the weather is warm, the birds are back singing, and most importantly, it's time to go racing! Local meteorologists have a warm, dry forecast in place for Friday Night, as it appears Mother Nature wants to smell some alcohol burning and see some mud fly too! Opening Night at Lernerville Speedway is this Friday, and all indications are that we will be dropping the green flag on the 2007 season.
Title Sponsors for all "Fab Four" racing divisions and points fund are back for the 2007 season. Title sponsors include; Commercial Truck and Trailer Sprint Cars, Friedman's Supermarkets Late Models, Ferrante Motor Cars Modifieds, Advance Auto Parts Pure Stocks, and the Budweiser Points Fund. Joining them this season will be Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic who will be awarding 1 tire to the winning (or highest finishing) late model currently racing on Hoosier Tires. Hoosier will also be extending that award to the Sprints, Mods, and Pure Stocks on selected nights.
2006 Track Champions Kevin Schaeffer (Commercial Truck and Trailer Sprint Cars), Lynn Geisler (Friedman's Supermarkets Late Models), Kevin Bolland (Ferrante Motor Cars Modifieds), and Butch Lambert (Advance Auto Parts Pure Stocks) will all be on hand to begin their title defenses. Danny Holtgraver (Commercial Truck and Trailer Sprint Cars) will bring his "Best in Show" Award winning D4 J&J Sprinter to see if it's as fast on the track as it looked in the mall! Fan Favorite Winners Carl Bowser (Commercial Truck and Trailer Sprint Cars), Chuck Sarver (Friedman's Supermarkets Late Models), Brian Swartzlander (Ferrante Motor Cars Modifieds), and Greg Beach (Advance Auto Parts Pure Stocks) will also be on hand to show off their new equipment and paint/decal schemes for the 2007 season.
Also new for the 2007 will be on-site beer sales. Lernerville Speedway has acquired a Liquor License from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board in an attempt to control and limit alochol consumption at the track; curtail Drinking & Driving to and from the track; and thus, making Lernerville Speedway and the surrounding area, a safer place to be on Friday Nights. Unfortunately, Lernerville Speedway has not yet cleared the red tape necessary to sell beer at the track yet. And as such, and only on a temporary basis, the existing BYOB (Bring Your Own Beer) Policy will remain in place for the beginning of the 2007 season. Updated information will be made available via the public announce system at the track and by press releases.
This Friday March 30 will mark the first of three Fab Four Racing events leading up to the first special show of the 2007 season. Budweiser points for each of the Fab Four divisions start next Friday April 6. Hot laps for Fab Four racing start at 7:00, with racing commencing at 7:30 sharp!
The green flag will drop on the first special show of the 2007 season on April 17 as the 360 OTC World of Outlaw Late Models invade the Action Track for the "Showdown in Sarvertown." The 50-lap, $10,000 to win event for the 360 OTC World of Outlaw Late Models will be supported by the first of 5 scheduled UMP Modified Races of the 2007 season. Time trials will begin at 7:15, with racing starting at 8:00 p.m.
The World of Outlaws Sprint Cars roll into town for the first time on May 15 for the First Commonwealth Bank Clash. The 40-lap, $10,000 to win event for the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars will also be supported by the UMP Modifieds. Time trials will begin at 7:15, with racing starting at 8:00 p.m.
