The Georgetown Speedway has produced another unique and exciting schedule for the 2007 racing season. The Super Late Models and Big Block Modifieds will split the headlines once again in 2007 as the two divisions alternate on a weekly basis. The Super Late Models get the nod for the season opening event scheduled for Friday April 6 while the Big Block season opener is Friday April 13.
The wildly popular Crate Late Models and Crate Modifieds will return as a part of the weekly Georgetown Speedway program. Mix in a dash of Vintage Cars, Little Lincolns, and 360 Sprint Cars and you end up with the most aggressive schedule ever put together in the history of the famed First State ½ mile oval.
Friday night gates will open at 5 pm but hot laps will not begin until 7 pm. Heat races are scheduled to begin promptly at 7:30. General admission is just $12 for adults while children 12 and under will be admitted free.
Georgetown Speedway General Manager David Brown and Promoter Lou Johnson have also just announced that the drivers will be competing for the highest paying point fund in the history of Georgetown Speedway. The Super Late Models, Big Block Modifieds, and two Crate classes will all do battle for the historic purse.
The drama was there for racing last year but adding points will give the fans a championship battle to cheer for as the season winds down, remarked Brown.
Racers competing at the Georgetown Speedway are reminded that they must run an American Racer 44 or a Hoosier 1300 or D15 on the right rear only. All cars must be equipped with a working RaceCeiver.
Georgetown Speedway, a ½ mile dirt oval track, is located on U.S. Route 113, just 35 miles south of Dover , DE . The speedway is just a short 45 minute drive from Ocean City and just a bit longer from Washington DC , Baltimore , and Philadelphia .
