The Georgetown Speedway opened its gates for a pre-season practice session on Saturday evening March 31. The open session was well attended as nearly 1000 people passed through the gates leading to the complimentary grandstands or paid pit area.
More than fifty 360 sprints, Big Block Modifieds, Super Late Models, Crate Late Models, Crate Modifieds, and Vintage Cars were on hand to shake out the “gremlins” before the first green flag of the season. Drivers found the track to their liking as they managed to get a true test of what the surface tends to be like on a weekly basis at the First State complex.
Bobby Wilkins had the Jake’s Marine Super Late Model out as the multi-time Big Block Mod winner makes the switch over to the sleek this year. Stephine Drury had her Crate Late Model out and up to speed, proving that she could be a contender with all of the “guys” when the green flag drops on the year.
The Georgetown Speedway will swing open its gates at 5 pm to The Super Late Models, Crate Late Models, and Crate Modifieds on Friday, April 6. Hot laps get underway at 7 pm with the first green flag set to fall on the first heat race at 7:35. Grandstand admission is just $12 for adults while kids 12 and under are free with a paying adult.
The Big Block Modifieds will take the place of the Super Late Models as the headlining class on Friday, April 13. The two crate classes will join the Modifieds to complete an exciting night of Friday night racing.
