FONDA ICE JAM R.O.C 50 POSTPONED ONE WEEK TO NEXT SATURDAY, APRIL 14TH. RACE TIME SCHEDULES ALL TO REMAIN THE SAME.
BINGHAMTON, NY…Race fans will have to wait one more week for the 2007 Race of Champions Dirt Modified Tour opener at Fonda Speedway. A cold, wet and overall miserable forecast for the next several days in the northeast put a temporary halt on this weekend’s event. The 50 lap Modified event will pay $4,000 to the winner next Saturday. Race time is scheduled for 1 p.m. next Saturday afternoon, April 14th with practice slated to get underway at noon.
Fonda Speedway Track Operator Ric Lucia wanted to do what was best for both his spectators and competitors by postponing the event one week. He commented, “We wanted to notify everyone early on the postponement. With the cost of fuel and the poor long term forecast we didn’t want to see people inconvenienced by waiting any longer to make the decision.”
Race of Champions Dirt Modified Tour Director Andrew Harpell agrees entirely with the decision to reschedule the event for next Saturday, April 14th. Harpell remarked, “With the eminent bad weather forecasted all weekend this is certainly the best decision for everyone involved.” He added, “We are excited about having the opportunity to reschedule the event for next Saturday and I am sure it will be another fantastic show as it has in years past.”
The 50 lap north region event will once again pit the best northeast Modified drivers in what has proven in the past to be a must see event. The 50 lap format doesn’t allow teams to wait too long for the race to develop. This simply means that the action is intense for the entire distance. Pit Gates will open at 10 a.m. with practice slated for noon. Race time is set for 1 p.m. next Saturday, April 14th.
The 2007 Race of Champions Dirt Modified Tour officially goes green next Saturday, April 14th at the Fonda Speedway for the running of the annual Ice Jam. The 50 lapper will pay $4,000 to the winner.
