Street Stocks Set To Hit The Ridge
Fultonville, NY: The Street Stock division is all set to role at the Glen Ridge Motorsports Park this season. Easily the most popular division with the Glen Ridge fan base, the Street Stocks will hit the fast three eighths mile oval 29 times in 2007.
In 2006, more than 80 different drivers competed with Johnstown’s John Bradt taking the Track Championship. Gloversville’s Chuck McSpirit led all drivers with four feature wins. A total of eleven drivers won features last season.
New for 2007 will be the NAPA Triple Crown Shootout Series. The three biggest events – the Bob Van Aernam Memorial on May 6th, the Firecracker 40 on July 1st and the Montgomery County Labor Day Championships on September will contest the meat of this series. The series finale will be on Sunday September 9th with the running of the NAPA Triple Crown Classic. This event is open only to the top 15 in series points as well as the two special qualifier winners.
Those two special qualifiers will be held on May 13th – Mothers Day 30 and September 8th – Rumble At The Ridge.
The ever-popular twin 15’s will hit the track on Sunday July 22nd.
In addition, the inaugural Glen Ridge Civil War Series will take place on Saturday August 25th and September 1st. The points champion for this series will earn the pole for the Rumble At The Ridge $1,000 to win event on September 8th. These events will be run under the home track rules banner.
The first ever appearance by the DART Dirt Street / Pure Stock Series will take center stage on Sunday September 30th. This afternoon show will run 25 laps and pay $400 to win. Rules for this event will be available on the series website – www.dartdirt.com.
The biggest Street Stock event of the season will be apart of the 4th annual Thunder On The Mountain Weekend. The Rumble At The Ridge will be a triple 30-lap event with the best average finisher being crowned the winner. A large $1,000 pay out will await the overall winner plus lap money.
At present time four drivers will have guaranteed starting spots. The winner of each NAPA Triple Crown Shootout Series event will have a spot as will the Glen Ridge Civil War Series Champion. All drivers will earn 40 show up points towards the Glen Ridge Track Championship.
The rules for this race will be home track. All drivers are encouraged to bring the rulebook of the home track in which you are using. Only tracks in the northeast will be allowed (at the tracks discression).
