Thunder Mountain ready for April 14 practice.
This coming Saturday, April 14th, Thunder Mountain Speedway will open its’ gates at 8:00 a.m. for a racer’s flea market and a Test and Tune session for competitors which will begin at noon. This will be open to the public, and there will be no vendor’s fees to sell your items. Race fans are welcome to attend the Test and Tune program, of course free of charge. There will be a pit pass fee of $10 for people wanting to be in the pit area, and there are no additional charges for the race cars. The pit concession stand will be serving lots of delicious food, and hot beverages will be available along with cold beverages. Thunder Mountain Speedway management is expecting several cars including the Don’s Automotive Mall big block Modifieds, the Autoworks of Ithaca Sportsman, the Billy’s Auto Sales Hurricane Street Stocks, the Road Warriors and Road Bandits, and possibly some CNY Mini Sprint racers. The racers will have 4 hours of practice time to shake down their cars, and fine tune the handling on Thunder Mountain Speedway’s lightening fast 3/8 mile banked oval. It should be a fun day for everyone to shake off the “winter blues” and get ready for opening day, which is slated for Saturday, April 21st at 4:00 p.m.
Thunder Mountain Speedway is the 2007 home of the Short Track Super Nationals, and hosts racing every Saturday night from April through October. The speedway is located off exit 8 of Interstate 81.
