VERNON, NY- The Utica-Rome Speedway 46th season opener is just two weeks away, but before the competition begins for the $8,000 358-Modified track championship there a couple of formalities on the schedule to take care of beforehand.
On Friday April 13, the Romano’s Driving School is scheduled to take place with on track sessions taking place for its attendees. A rain date of April 20 is set aside for this event. Call Mike Romano at (518) 762-1333 for more information.
An “Open House” practice session for all race teams and divisions is set to go for Sunday April 15. Gates will open at 11 a.m. with on track practice scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday April 18 is the rain date for the open practice session.

This all leads up to the Mirabito “The Energy Leader” 46th season opener, which will feature a 46 lap $2,500 lap 358-Modified main event with the Sportsman, Pro Stocks, Pure Stocks, and IMCA Modifieds also in action. Points will start in all divisions. Gates will open at 1 p.m. with racing beginning at 4 p.m.
