The Challenger Raceway has announced that the Fifth Annual Spring Fest, scheduled for Sunday, April 15, has been canceled due to inclement weather. It will be made up at a later date, which is in the process of being formulated.
It has been an unseasonably cool and wet April. The long spell of cold weather, and the promise of a cold rainy day for Sunday's scheduled race date, has led the Lentz Family to make an early decision to cancel the event.
A decision is in the process of being made for rescheduling the event, and will be announced on Sunday. A three-division program is still planned, featuring the Super Late Models racing in a 50-lap main event paying $5,000 to the winner. Also on the card will be the Semi-Late division, racing 30 laps for $800 to the winner. The Roadrunner division will also share the card, as the front-wheel drive four-cylinder cars will compete in a 20-lap event paying $200 to the winner. The Challenger Raceway is located 6.4 miles southwest of US 422 on PA 286, then one mile north on McIntyre Road.
