BREWERTON, NY – The popular Brewerton Speedway will open its 59th season of auto racing competition this Friday April 20th. Slated to compete on the fast 1/3-mile “D-Shaped DIRT Demon” will be the DIRT Modifieds, IMCA Modifieds, ESDCA Mod Lites, and 4-Cylinder Super Stocks. Race time is set for 7:30pm.
Defending Brewerton Speedway DIRT Modified track champion Alan Johnson of Phelps will lead the charge in attempting to win the 35-lap Season Opener. Johnson will have serious pressure from drivers such as former champion Chuck Bower, Steve Hulsizer, Kevin Bates, Scott Prentice, Jimmy Phelps, Jim Witko, Sean Beardsley, Dan Vauter, Tom Sears, and Kenny Stafford.
The tough IMCA Modified division will hit the track in their first event of 2007 with Kevan Cook, Dale Caswell, Rob Keller, Les Hubbard, Bill Anderson, and many more who will chase the IMCA point standings. The ESDCA Mod Lites will be wide open this year with defending champion Tim Devendorf, Dan Williams, Doug Williams, Lowell Zehr, and Darren Austin all in contention. Over 50 Mod Lites are currently pre-registered with ESDCA. Chuck Powelczyk and Joey Delacruz will try to continue their dominating ways in the 4-Cylinder Super Stocks
Admission prices for general admission this Friday April 20 are $12 Adults, $5 for Ages 10-14, and children 9 and under are free of charge. Pit admission is $20 for DIRT/IMCA Members and $25 for Non-Members. The gates will swing open at 5:30pm, with the first green flag of the 2007 season from Starter Glen O’Loughlin when racing begins at 7pm. Brewerton Speedway is located on Route 11, just north of the Brewerton Bridge.
Brewerton Speedway offers exciting DIRT Motorsports sanctioned stock car racing every Friday night from April 20-September 7. Appearing weekly are the DIRT Modifieds, IMCA Modifieds, ESDCA Mod Lites, and 4-Cylinder Super Stocks. The 4-Cylinder Enduro division will race several times monthly.
Several appearances are slated for the DIRT Sportsman division, including a Super DIRTcar Series event on July 6. Other visiting divisions throughout the upcoming year will be the New York Modified Midgets, Central New York Mini-Sprints, Midstate Antique Stock Cars, and the Street Stocks, who will have their own Super DIRTcar Series event on June 8.
Several major events dot the 2007 race calendar, including Fernandez Auto Mall / Ferris Industries Night featuring the Advance Auto Parts Modified Super DIRTcar Series 100-lap event on Friday August 3. The Victoria 200 Rules Modified Mini-Series will hit the “D-Shaped DIRT Demon” on Tuesday June 26, Wednesday July 11, and Friday September 7. The 2007 season will close out on Thursday October 4 with the Leaf Racewear 75, a Super DIRT Week Championship event for the Mr. DIRTcar 358-Modified tour.
