Susquehanna, PA…Penn Can Speedway in Susquehanna, Pennsylvania will play host to the inaugural 2007 Race of Champions South Tour Sportsman Series race this Friday as part of the Spring 125. The top ROC Sportsman drivers will be coming to the speedway to compete in a huge fifty lap feature event paying $1200 to the winner. Qualifying heats and the feature will be lined up by luck of the draw in each of the series races.

Traditionally Penn Can Speedway has one of the strongest fields of sportsman weekly competing at the speedway. This year shouldn’t be any different. 2006 sportsman champion Mike Loney of Taylor, PA will be returning to defend his crown and protect his turf when the ROC Tour comes to Penn Can Speedway. Other Penn Can Speedway regulars expected to be tough when the invaders come calling are Jeff Crambo, Micheal Lartz, Joey Colsten, Dan Pompey, Nick Petrilak, and a host of other Penn Can hotshoes.

The invading talent will be coming from not only Pennsylvania but from New York and New Jersey as well. Expected to be in the field is defending ROC Champion Danny Creeden of Middletown, New York. Creeden has taken a liking to the fast Penn Can oval having finished in the top two positions the last four times he has been at the speedway winning the last ROC Sportsman event as well. Drivers from Big Diamond Speedway should be invading as they have a night off from their home track. New York drivers from Five Mile Point, Orange County Fair Speedway, and Accord also should be at the track for the big fifty lap event.

Gates will open at 5:00 with the first heat race scheduled to take the track at 7:15. For more information about racing at Penn Can Speedway call the track office at 570-585-9928. The speedway is located on Route 171 in Susquehanna, Pennsylvania just a short drive from both the Binghamton and Scranton areas.
