Racing in five divisions and debut of Pass and Crash and Lucky Dog highlight opening night

HARTFORD, Ohio (April 17, 2005) - Sharon Speedway will kick off its 2007 season Saturday, April 21, with points racing in all five divisions and the debut of its new announcers Pass and Crash and new mascot Lucky Dog.

Drivers in the Fantastic Five divisions - 410 Sprints, V8 Modifieds, Pure Stocks, Emods and Limited Sprints (formerly Green Flag Sprints) - will roar around Sharon's 3/8-mile track chasing the first points of the season. "I've said it before, and I'll say it again - we have great competitors at Sharon Speedway," said Dave Blaney, Sharon Speedway co-owner. "These drivers give it their all every week, and the result is some fantastic, close racing."

Calling the close racing action this season will be Sharon's new announcing duo, Pass and Crash. Pass Polick will be providing the lap by lap details from the booth while Crash Krause will be roaming the pits and grandstands searching for the inside scoop.

Also roaming the grandstands on Saturday will be Sharon Speedway's new mascot Lucky Dog, who will have plenty of special giveaways for the kids.

A new seating option is available for fans this season, too. Fans can sit in the Patio Suite "Pepsi Seats" for $16 -- just $5 more than the regular adult ticket. The special seats on the patio provide an excellent view of the track. There also will be some new items at the Sharon Speedway concession stands this season, like garden salads, jalapeno pretzels, "hot" fried cheese sticks, fried dough and a nightly special.

Tickets for Saturday's show will be available at the gate and remain the same price as last year - $11 for adults (16 and older), $5 for kids (12-15) and free for children 11 and younger. Pit passes are $22.

Since Saturday is the first night of Fantastic Five points racing, it is also the first night of the "Two for $2" program. Fans who bring two non-perishable food items for Second Harvest Food Bank this Saturday will receive $2 off the price of an adult general admission ticket. A representative will collect the food outside the gate from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. only. Everyone who donates two food items will receive a $2 coupon to present at the ticket window, bringing the price of an adult general admission ticket to just $9. All non-perishable food items are accepted, but canned meats, canned vegetables, tuna fish and peanut butter are needed most.

Gates open at 4 p.m. and racing starts at 6 p.m. Fans can call (330) 772-5481 or visit www.sharonspeedway.com for more information and directions.
