COLLETT LEADS URC POINT CHASE AFTER TWO EVENTS
There's a long season ahead, but after two URC Sprint Series events, youthful Justin Collett of Middletown, DE leads coveted 60th Anniversary Bar's Leaks Sprint Series point chase. Collett at age twenty, has competed on and off with the URC Sprint Series over the past several years, but in 2007, it appears that Collett may stay around for more then just a couple of races. Collett will be heading to the New Egypt Speedway next Saturday night as he leads all competitors in the URC point chase.
While his point lead is not huge, he is sitting on top of a long list of talent. Collett holds just a one point advantage over runner-up and 2000 URC point champion Brian Seidel, driver of the Bill Gallagher GEI sprint car. The top two drivers should not get too comfortable as four time URC Champion Curt Michael is sitting third and just five points out of the top spot. Opening day feature winner Chris Coyle of Wilmington, DE is fourth in points and trails the top spot by just six points. And yes, Trevor Lewis sits fifth in the point battle, just eight point shy of the top spot. Collett has a lot of company and they're all looking fill the top spot.
Just outside of the top five in URC points is "Steady" Eddie Aikin, often viewed as a sleeper who can get the job done on any given night. Jason Clauss is back in top form after a disappointing year in 2006. Kevin Welsh is ninth in points, right now in a sandwich between 2006 rookie standouts Davey Sammons now eight in point and Robbie Stillwaggon who is ranked tenth.
The 60th season of URC is looking to be another highly competitive season and traveling sprint company will storm the New Egypt Speedway in New Egypt, NJ this coming Saturday night.
