Weedsport, NY – April 30, 2007 – By Tom Skibinski, Cayuga County Fair Speedway PR Director
Cayuga County Fair Speedway closes down for one weekend before re-opening for a festive Mother's Day experience on May 13.
The popular Weedsport, NY oval sits idle next Sunday in lieu of the 27th DIRT Challenge Cup across town at Rolling Wheels Raceway yet returns to action the following weekend for a complete card of Big-Block Modified, Sportsman Modified, Street Stock and Enduro racing. T&K Lumber presents ‘Desperate Wives Night’ with all unescorted ladies admitted FREE (until 6:30 p.m.) for the 7 o’clock event featuring Soccer Moms Karmageddon.
Both friends and foes of dynamic DIRT Modified driver Danny Johnson get a break this coming Sunday at the Port as the ‘Doctor’ is the only Big-Block winner after two nights of racing in Weedsport. Troyer counterpart Jimmy Phelps has been second-best two straight shows leaving the remainder of the field only to trade paint in their shadows.
April winners Rob Pratt (opener) and Jeremy Pitcher have staged command performances in a pair of DIRTcar Sportsman main events, with no less than a dozen contenders taking aim at the divisional title harnessing the power of crate engines. Dave Marcuccilli and Dave Mannise have shared the spotlight in DIRTcar Street Stock competition while nothing could stop Jon Shumway and Bill Werner on their way to copping early season 4-Cylinder Enduro triumphs.
The month of May at Cayuga County closes out with ‘This Is Our Town Night’ on May 20 and the 16th annual Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series Hall of Fame Classic for Big-Block Modifieds presented by Labatt on May 27. Pre-empting both Sunday shows is the twice rained-out Enduro Championship ---now earmarked as the ‘Make-Up For May 188--- which has been rescheduled for Friday, May 18 beginning at 7 pm.
Throughout the season unique 5-PAK ticket packages will be available for all regular events at Cayuga County and sister track Canandaigua Speedway. Providing a great deal for fans, each 5-PAK of tickets can be purchased for $48.00 which results in the receipt of (1) free ticket. The regular show admission is just $12 for adults (15-64 yrs.), $10 for Seniors (65 yrs. & older) and $5 for youths (10-14 yrs.) while children 9 yrs. & under are free.
