With the 40th Anniversary Season set to begin Saturday May 5th, Brighton Speedway was a constant hum of activity as more than 50 drivers appeared at Test & Tune on April 28th & 29th to put their machines in action and see if their quest for the checkers is a real possibility, or if there are still kinks to work out.
Shawn Gregory, of Trenton, the 2006 Bainer’s Radiator Canadian Modified Champion, was one who brought out his car, not yet lettered or numbered, to test his machine, look at some of this year’s competition and share a few hours of race talk with other drivers, fans and sponsors. “We appreciate the chance to get the car on the 1/3 mile and see how it rides. We think we got what we need to reach the speed and power we want, but the true test is getting it out there and getting it working. A weekend like this puts into perspective how much work we have to do to be ready for next weekend,” Gregory claimed. Like many that made it out, Shawn figured between his car, and his brother Brandon’s, the #01 Brighton Automotive Pro Stock, there was more than enough work to keep them up all hours so they can be competitive from the first Green Flag of the season
One more Test and Tune event is scheduled for Wednesday, May 2nd from 4 to 8pm. Fans are invited to come out and see what their favourites have been building since the season ended in September of 2006.
