Thunder Mountain Double Crossed by Mother Nature on Autoworks Night

CENTER LISLE---

The 2007 season officially got underway this past Saturday in Center
Lisle,
NY. The forecast was cold and humid, but Thunder Mountain appeared to
be
going by the beat of its’ own drum, as the speedway was in gorgeous
shape,
and the grounds were spectator ready. The pits filled quickly, as the
6
class card of Autoworks Sportsman, Billy’s Auto Sales & Service
Hurricane
Street Stocks, Warriors, Bandits, Regional International Pro Trucks,
and
the CRSA Sprints were chomping at the bit to get the racing action
underway. Many drivers appeared to be in mid-season form, as they
were
able to complete all of the night’s heat racing action, before
Mother
Nature decided to release her mal-timed heartache in the form of rain
sheets. The rain came down heavy, and all was lost on the race
surface.
Thunder Mountain will have a full night of racing this upcoming
Saturday,
May 5th, however. It will mark the opener for the Don’s Automotive
Mall
Big Block Modifieds. The originally scheduled Twin 20’s format
feature
events have been scheduled for a later date, but the big boys will run
their regular 30 lap event, and some of this past week’s makeup
features
will be run. Also on the card for the evening will be the Autoworks
Sportsman, Billy’s Auto Sales & Service Hurricane Street Stocks,
XCel
Chassis 600cc Modifieds, Warriors, Bandits, and of course, the
King’s Smash
‘Em Crash ‘Em Demolition Derby, with $500 going to the winner of
that
always entertaining event. Gates will open at 4pm, with racing
getting
underway at 6:30pm.
Thunder Mountain Speedway is the 2007 home of the Short Track
SuperNationals and hosts racing every Saturday night from April
through
October. The Speedway is located off exit 8 of Interstate 81. From
there
follow route 79 west for five miles and turn right in Center Lisle and
follow the signs. For more information about the upcoming events at
Thunder
Mountain call the speedway office at (607) 849 - 7889 or checkout our
website at http://www.thunderracetrack.com
