AMP Series Release:
Alexander, AR (April 30, 2007) - The Day Motorsports Arkansas Motorsports Professional Series presented by American Racer or "AMP Series" has been invited once again to compete with our neighbors to the East in another edition of the "Battle on the River". This will set up a double date weekend with the MSCCS, night one at Greenville Speedway and night two at Winona Speedway.
The date, May 5, 2007, AMP will travel on to Central Mississippi Speedway's 3/10 ths mile Clay Oval in Winona, Mississippi
The date, is part of the wildly successful Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series or MSCCS, which is ran at various tracks across the Magnolia State. The race format will be ran under the host association rules, however, competitors may pick what tire rule they wish to compete under.
"We feel allowing the drivers to choose between one tire rule or the other will help increase the car count. With recent cancellations to our schedule, we wanted to give our drivers the most opportunity to race. Greenville and Winona are about four to four and a half hours from Little Rock; just over the border in Mississippi " said AMP Series Director Christy Hudson. She further went on to say that she believes it will be a successful event and hopefully one they can continue in the future.
The race is listed as a special event for amp series.
Entry fee for the Saturday night 50 lap A Main will be $100 plus an additional $20 for rental of the required race receiver.
There will be a Dash for Cash will be for the fastest 8 qualifiers out of each group. Sponsored by Wall to Wall Racing engines.
MSCCS & AMP Series will be awarded one provisional each.
The A-Main will be worth $2500 to the winner and will pay $300 to start. On Friday & Saturday, the AMP series drivers will be awarded 100 "appearance" points towards season standings.
The provisional will be awarded to the series member highest in the point standings who has not already qualified.
You can expect a strong field on hand for this one including MSCCS regulars Scott Slay, Bub McCool, Chris Wall, Anothony Rushing, Mike Boland, and David Breazeale.
The AMP expect to field a strong contingent in the likes of Dewaine Hottinger and Jon Kirby (ROY contender) of Russellville, Little Rocks Terry Henson and AMP Rookie of the Year contender Joseph Long,of Bryant, Arkansas. Nash, Tx hotshoe John "Catman" Mitchell, Kyle Beard,Trumann, Arkansas, 13 year old Gary Scott Christian of Broken Bow, OK,also contenders for Rookie of the Year honors & Monticello, Arkansas Stormy Derryberry
This past week at Greenville Speedway, Arkansas driver Kenneth Mitcham was involved in an on track accident that claimed the life of this great and gentlemanly competitor. AMP Series will provide a memory decal for all drivers who would like to remember Kenneth at this weekends events. A moment of silence along with a performance during the parade lap for the A-Main, AMP and MSCCS series directors & racers will honor Kenneth and his family by performing a parade lap with a missing man formation then the four wide salute. Kenneth surely would have been set to compete with the best in the area on both nights.
