Push truck drags, French fry Frenzy, Kids' Crew meeting and new mascot Lucky Dog also in store

HARTFORD, Ohio (May 1, 2007) - Sharon Speedway officials lost the battle with Mother Nature last Saturday, and are hoping the only battles taking place this Saturday are on the track's 3/8-mile racing surface.

Drivers in Sharon's Fantastic Five divisions - Warren Harley-Davidson Sprints, Gibson-Governor Insurance V-8 Modifieds, Coy Brothers Trucking E-Mods, Tom's Sewer & Drain Service Pure Stocks and Limited Sprints - are eager to get back on the track for the second race of the 2007 season.

"The weather kept us from racing last Saturday, but this week we hope to build on the momentum we started on opening night," said Dave Blaney, Sharon Speedway co-owner. "I know the drivers are ready to get back to racing, and I hope the fans are ready, too. We have a lot of great things planned this season."

One of the events planned for fans Saturday night is the push truck drags. During intermission the speedway's push trucks will get their shot to take the checkered flag during a one-lap shootout. This Saturday is also the French Fry Frenzy, an event fans will have to see to believe. Pass and Crash, Sharon's new track announcers, will be calling all the night's action.

There will be action for the kids this Saturday as well, as Aunt Sandy holds the first Kids' Crew meeting of the season. Young race fans will meet the track's new mascot Lucky Dog and make lanyards for their membership cards. Following the meeting, kids can present their membership cards at any concession stand for 50 cents off a special Lucky Dog Kids' Crew meal. Kids' Crew is open to fans in kindergarten through fifth grade, and membership - just $15 for the whole season - includes a shirt, membership card and a certificate of attendance signed by Dave Blaney.

Tickets for Saturday's show will be available at the gate and remain the same price as last year - $11 for adults (16 and older), $5 for kids (12-15) and free for children 11 and younger. Pit passes are $22, and the pit gate opens at 3 p.m. this season.

Since Saturday is a Fantastic Five points racing night, it is also a "Two for $2" night. Fans who bring two non-perishable food items for Second Harvest Food Bank this Saturday will receive $2 off the price of an adult general admission ticket. A representative will collect the food outside the gate from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. only. Everyone who donates two food items will receive a $2 coupon to present at the ticket window, bringing the price of an adult general admission ticket to just $9. All non-perishable food items are accepted, but canned meats, canned vegetables, tuna fish and peanut butter are needed most.

Gates open at 4 p.m. and racing starts at 6 p.m. Fans can call (330) 772-5481 or visit www.sharonspeedway.com for more information and directions.
