Wolfe, Hughes, Brown and Rodriguez Win at SSP on Sunday

Newberrytown, PA (May 6, 2007) – On Sunday night, May 6, the racing action at the Susquehanna Speedway Park found Lucas Wolfe winning the ASCS Mid-Atlantic Regional Sprint Car feature. It was his second ASCS feature in two weeks. Larry Hughes, Jr. won the 50-lap Xtreme Stock Car feature. Bill Brown, Sr. won the 20-lap Classic Car feature and R.C. Horn also picked up his first SSP win of the season in the XSC Rookie Rumble main event. J.R. Rodriguez won the Great American School Bus feature.



The ASCS Mid-Atlantic Sprint Car feature event found polesitter, Lucas Wolfe jumping out to the early lead. A caution for a spinning Rod Ort on lap 7 closed the field up on the rear bumper of Wolfe after he was able to open up a comfortable lead. At the finish it was Wolfe picking up his second ASCS feature win in a row over Dave Franek. Dave Ely came hone third, followed by Chad Layton and Pat Cannon. Coleman Gulick actually came across the line in fifth, but was penalized 2 spots at the finish for jumping the restart on lap seven. Cannon and Ely were the heat race winners. Wofle won the ASCS dash race to claim the pole position.



In an extremely competitive 50-lap Xtreme Stock Car feature event, 2006 SSP Track Champion Larry Hughes, Jr. won his first feature of the season. Ray Broderick and Hughes battled throughout the entire event, but a spin by Broderick with two laps to go allowed Hughes to win the event by two car lengths over Tom Johns.



In the first Class Car feature of the season at SSP, Bill Brown Sr. continued his winning ways by leading all 15-laps of their caution filled main event. Following Brown at the checkered, it was Allen Cullum, Jim Crocker, Jack Yingling and Joe Alder. Heats were won by Brown, Sr. and Sndograss.



R.C. Horn won the 15-lap XSC Rookie Rumble feature. Horn inherited the lead from early race leader Ricky Hippensteel on lap 13 when Hippensteel’s engine expired. Following Horn across the line was Karen Hawthorne, Dustin Pietrak, Nancy Frye and Nolan Barshingner.



The next Saturday night event will be next week, May 12 with Mother’s Appreciation Night featuring the Trail Motors Super Sportsman, Late Models and Street Stocks. All mothers in attendance will receive a special gift that night. There will also be the second of six Young Guns Street Stock 5-lap dash races presented by Clean Technologies will also take place on Saturday night. The dash features all drivers ages 21 and younger.



Then on Sunday night, May 13, it is will again be Mother’s Appreciation Night featuring the ARDC wingless Midgets, Legends Cars, Four Cylinder Stock Cars and Women on Wheels Stock Cars. All mothers in attendance will receive a special gift that night.



The pit gates will open 3:30 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. Grandstand gates will open at 4:00 p.m. Warmups begin at 5:30 p.m. with qualifying races at 6:00 p.m. The national anthem will be at 7:00 p.m. followed by last chance consolation races and feature events.



The Susquehanna Speedway Park is located off I-83 to exit 32, then 1.4 miles NW on SR382 to York Road , then 1.3 miles south.
