Sarver, PA (May 6, 2007) Remember the excitement of Shannon Babb’s dominant win earlier this spring at the Showdown in Sarvertown? Want to relive the excitement? Well you have two options; we suggest you take full advantage of both! First, you can relive the excitement by tuning into SPEED on Sunday May 27 at 12:30 p.m. The one-hour telecast will feature highlights of qualifying and heat races, and the entire 50-lap feature event. Your second option is to see the real thing, in person at the Action Track. Yes, the World of Outlaws Late Model Series will be back in town on June 29 & 30 for the first ever Lernerville Speedway two day Late Model show.
The Inaugural “Firecracker 100” is already generating national attention as one of the must-see events of the 2007 racing season. Both because the World of Outlaws is the premier dirt late model touring series in the country, but also because the Western Pennsylvania-based field of late model drivers is one of the deepest, most talented in the country. Local drivers Lynn Geisler, Alex Ferree, David Scott, and others can, have, and will race wheel-to-wheel with the elite late model drivers in the country.
Two World of Outlaws regulars, both currently in the Top Six in points, have ties to the Western Pennsylvania/Tri-State Area. Chub Frank, a two-time winner of World of Outlaws Late Model races at the Action Track, is one of the original members of the series, and is currently sixth in points. “Kid Rocket” Josh Richards frequently shakes down his car at Lernerville early in the season, and invades the Action Track any weekend the touring series is not racing. Richards, who is currently tied for fourth in series points, finished a close second to current Lernerville Budweiser Points leader Alex Ferree on opening night at the speedway.
What can you do to ensure being part of the action? Drivers can submit a Firecracker 100 entry form by logging onto www.lernerville.com and clicking on the link along the left-hand side or by contacting the track office (724) 353-1511. Over 40 cars/drivers have registered already! Fans can call the same number to purchase reserved seats for both nights of racing action. Reserved seats can be upgraded to pit passes the day(s) of the event for an additional fee. Reserved seats for the two-day extravaganza are a modest $42 for adults, $40 for seniors, and $37 for students 17 & under. Non-reserved general admission seats are $39/$36/$34. Pit passes will be $40 for DIRT members and $50 for non-members. Reservations for camping spots can also be purchased for $35 via the track office. Free camping will also be available without reservation on a first-come, first-serve basis.
In addition to the $30,000 to win, $2000 to start Firecracker 100 A-main feature event, there will also be an Uncle Sam 30 non-qualifiers race that is $3000 to win, $300 to start. Friday night will feature time trials and heat races, followed by a concert and fireworks. Then Saturday Night will resume action with two B-mains, the Uncle Sam 30, and the Firecracker 100 A-main feature event, followed by more fireworks. An absolute bonanza of action for $21 per night!
Don’t be left in the Standing Room Only crowd, call and purchase your seats and reserved camping now while you still can, (724) 353-1511.
