Cayuga County Fair Speedway is back in action and so are the women arriving in Weedsport for a special Mother's Day card on May 13.
The Sunday night program features a complete card of Big-Block Modifieds, Sportsman Modifieds, Street Stocks and BattleKarz (formerly Enduros) plus a Soccer Moms Karmageddon. T&K Lumber presents Desperate Wives Night scheduled to start at 7 o’clock with unescorted ladies admitted FREE until 6:30 p.m. Spectator gates swing open at 5 p.m. and pit gates are slated to unlock at 4 p.m. for all competitors.
Who can stop Danny Johnson at The Port? No one last Thursday in the Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series showdown at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway. And so far not any of his closest rivals at DIRTcar Racing NorthEast’s flagship track. Two nights of racing at Cayuga County , two Big-Block Modified feature wins for the ‘Doctor’ with fellow Troyer driver Jimmy Phelps crossing the plate second in both 35-lap main events.
Over 30 drivers have signed in so far for DIRTcar Sportsman action with Jeremy Pitcher and Rob Pratt (opener) separating themselves with trips to victory lane. More than a third of the field is equipped with crate motors, with a $100 bonus on the line every week for any one of those drivers able to make it into the winner’s circle.
In the full-fender ranks, Dave Marcuccilli and Dave Mannise have shared the spotlight in DIRTcar Street Stock competition while Jon Shumway and Bill Werner have collected first-place trophies after copping early season 4-Cylinder Enduro triumphs.
The month of May at Cayuga County closes out with ‘This Is Our Town Night’ on May 20 and the 16th annual Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series Hall of Fame Classic for Big-Block Modifieds presented by Labatt on May 27. Pre-empting both Sunday shows is the twice rained-out Enduro Championship ---now earmarked as the ‘Make-Up For May 188--- which has been rescheduled for Friday, May 18 beginning at 7 pm.
Throughout the season special 5-PAK ticket packages will be available for all regular events at Cayuga County and sister track Canandaigua Speedway. Providing a great deal for fans, each 5-PAK of tickets can be purchased for $48.00 which results in the receipt of (1) free ticket.
