Forestville, PA – May 6, 2007 – The Naftzinger’s Used Auto Parts (Auburn) sponsored Nutty Buddy’s Enduro Series held its first race of the season Sunday at the Big Diamond Raceway. In race number one of five for 2007, winners were Mike Reichert (New Ringgold) and Jeff Sheetz (Macungie). Test and tune sessions were held for various racing divisions following the Enduro events.

33 entrants were present for the 6/8 cylinder (big car) enduro race, a 100-lap contest. M. Reichert, who started second, and twenty-second place starter Phil Levering (Parkerford) exchanged the top spot during the event. M. Reichert, behind the wheel of his ’76 Monte Carlo #63, set a blistering pace up front and had lapped all but the second place car.

M. Reichert, the 1995 Big Diamond Roadrunner track champion, returned to the track a few year’s ago in the Enduro events. This triumph marks the second of his BDR career. Mike’s brother Chris Reichert (Orwigsburg) is another past Roadrunner competitor at BDR, where he holds four career feature triumph. C. Reichert, driving a 1984 Chevy Caprice Classic #327, was the second and final lead lap car.

Doug Naftzinger (Auburn) finished in the third position and he was followed by Chuck Detweiler (Schuylkill Haven), Cory Student (West Hazelton), and Robert Bankes (Nuremburg).

The 4 cylinder (small car) 50-lap event found a record number of entrants in competition. The race began on a wild note as Kevan Schaeffer flipped his machine in turn two. No injuries were reported. Tony Wetzel (Fleetwood) led the opening pair of laps. Jeff Sheetz, driving a ’96 Mazda 626, started thirteenth and wasted no time in taking the lead. Sheetz led the remaining laps and captured his first career Enduro triumph at BDR.

Steve Wilson (Lansdale) throttled from nineteenth to second behind the wheel of his ’92 Eagler Talon. Jeremy Krauss (Kutztown) finished third ahead of Shaun Miller (Tower City), Wetzel, and Dale Shoemaker (Ashley).

The Sportsman and Modified cars partaking in the test and tune sessions included: Kenny Eckert Jr., Shane Moser, Harry Landis/Conrad Fich, Todd Bashore/Danny Nicholas, Brad Brightbill, Tom Brennan, Kyle Somers, and Kevin Beach.

The Roadrunner division was represented by: Chris Holland, Robert Derfler, and Elvin Brennan III. Matt Greene had his 600 Modified in competition, along with the Sprint car driven by Billy Schoffstall.
