ASCS Sprints on Dirt Double Up this Weekend


Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (May 7, 2007) – Following on the heels of a successful season opener this past weekend, the Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by Victor Reinz are set for a pair of events in Michigan this weekend.



On Friday night, the series makes the first of four stops at Hartford Speedway Park in Hartford, MI, before moving on to Thunderbird Race Park in Muskegon on Saturday night.



Two-time ASCS Sprints on Dirt champion Dustin Daggett kicked off the 2007 campaign by besting a field of 28 entries on Saturday night in Crystal, MI, to jump into the series early point lead.



Daggett's early chasers include 2005 series champion Tim Norman, Nick Mulheim, Tim Allison and Brett Mann. Also in the top ten in points after the opening event are Bill Johnson, Ryan Grubaugh, Joe Bares, J.R. Stewart and John Gall.



Along with the experienced championship contenders, the ASCS Sprints on Dirt also sports a strong rookie crop that includes Jared Horstman, Ryan Ruhl, Nate Bostrum and Jake Stebner, each of whom made the feature cut in the season opener.



Friday's action at Hartford Speedway Park fires off at 8:00 p.m., with Saturday's card at Thunderbird Race Park going green at 7:00 p.m.



Hartford Speedway Park is located in Hartford, MI, off I-94 Exit 46, then 1.3 miles north on Center Street, then four blocks west on Prospect Street. For more information, contact the track at 269-621-4482.

The 28th year of action for the ASCS Sprints on Dirt consists of 20 championship events at ten different tracks throughout Michigan as well as Ontario.



The 2007 season marks the 16th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing for the American Sprint Car Series. With a dozen different Regions in addition to the O'Reilly American Sprint Cars on Tour National series, ASCS will sanction approximately 240 nights of racing at more than 100 different race tracks throughout at least 30 different states and Canada.
